Seniors have been slow to enroll in drug plans, but there is still time left.

     An article out of one of the local newspapers (Tuesday, December 26, 2006)

     "Medicare's second open enrollment for drug coverage has been quieter than the first one a year ago, but Medicare officials are still bracing for a last minute rush as seniors try to find a better deal before the New Year's Eve deadline.
     Polls by health care organizations have shown that about one in ten seniors with Medicare drug plans, or slightly more than two million beneficiaries will make a switch during this year's six week enrollment period.
     Still, Medicare officials urge all beneficiaries to check their drug plan's cost and coverage for 2007, since many insurers have announced changes in their monthly premiums, co-payments and the medications they'll cover next year."
     For everyone who is true ly dependant on Medicare I hope this is a heads up. What I question is why so many who do not need it sign up for it anyway. I wish all Seniors would try to understand the legacy they are passing on to their children and their grandchildren.
     Should you already be on Medicare because you true ly need assistance, then I thank God it is there for you. If you have it now, or are planning to sign up for it, please think it through first.  You see, for you to received your assistance, someone else is forced to pick up the slack.
     How would you feel if you knew that your children or grandchildren were forced to go without needed medicine becaue they or their parents could no longer afford the double or triple price hike? Remember, the money has to come from somewhere, right? I have touched on this topic and I think I will share a little of it with you.

     What I see is a whole generation of older adults that have literally turned a blind eye on their own children and grandchildren so  they can have what they want, or maybe now I should say what they expect and sometimes even demand.
     The sad part of all of this is most of them do not even care who they are hurting. Could it be that maybe some of them do not even realize how they are hurting the future generation (their children and in turn their grandchildren)? Most of them do not even want to know what is going on anymore because they are getting theirs at all costs.
     I am certain that I am going to make many people angry with me, but that is not what I am trying to do. I am trying to understand how the entire sutiation was created in the first place. How can such wonderful people, and I know that most of them are, make such an about face?"
