Newspapers, radio and television all seem to be focused in on the 2008 Presidential Election, even though there is a long way to go yet.......

      I have been thinking about the 2008 Presidential elections lately. We are being bombarded on a daily basis of who is running, thinking about running and already announcing dropping out of the race. Almost everyday someone new is announcing they are setting up an exploratory committee.

      The next thing we are either reading, listening to or watching on television is who at this point is the front runner for any given week. We are informed by the various pinheads  this country is ready for a female president, an African American president, a mormon president. When Joe Lieberman was running for president, it was said this country was ready for a Jewish president. Sounds more like each of them believes they are entitled to the position and in each of their heart and soul expect it.

      Shouldn't the question at hand be which of those who have decided to throw their hat into the arena be "qualified" for the top position?  Isn't being "qualified" the most important asset, next to being honest?  If the American people want and demand "separation of church and state" then religion should not be a factor in who the next president is going to be, right? Besides, isn't it true this country is sliding more and more into the secular?

     When everyone attends their voting booths, are they going to vote for someone based on race and religion? I personally would hope not. Are you going to vote for someone because the person running is a female? Are you going to vote for someone because he or she is an African American?

      We should all vote for the person we believe will have the ability to LEAD. The person male or female, race or religion, who can help set this country back on its feet, so to speak. The one person who will be qualified to fulfill the position to the best of his or her ability.

     Do the homework, find the facts out for yourself before you decide who you will be voting for. Listening to the sound-bites via the radio and television and reading editorials from biased newspapers very rarely will give facts. They all feed their own bias and opinions, which each of us need to weed through to find out the truth.
