Rising death rate, dirty rooms among problems reported to Pentagon....
. Found this one while I was going through the newspaper just a short time ago. This one is written up as a "golly gee" we did not have a clue until now. Allow me to pass this one on and see what you think.
"In the latest allegations of poor treatment for veterans, the Pentagon said Thursday that it is investigating conditions at a veterans retirement home in the capital.
A medical team went for an inspection Wednesday (March 21, 2007) after Defense Secretary Robert Gates got a letter from congressional investigators about allegations of a rising death rate and rooms spattered with blood, urine and feces, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington."
No one in Washington had a clue as to the conditions at the Armed Forces Retirement Home? How could they not have been aware of this situation before now?
"The letter also cited allegations of an increase in the rates of residents who are sent to hospitals and a case in which a veteran had a bedsore with maggots in the wound."
Yet everyone is still running around claiming innocence and pointing the finger to the next person in line. Instead of looking to pass the blame on to the next person, why doesn't someone help these soldiers? They are still existing under these horrid conditions. They still have not been cleaned up and moved to a cleaner, safer environment.
"We are going to take every complaint and we are going to address it," said Maj. Stewart Upton, a Defense Department spokesman.
Tim Cox, chief operating officer at the home said the allegations were made by "unidentified critics," were "without merit" and had not been investigated by the Government Accountability Office."
"Of course, this home has experienced incidents consistent with a nursing home environment," He said in a statement, noting half the residents are older than eighty and many have chronic health conditions."
I have no doubt that many have chronic health conditions, they are being forced to exist in nothing short of squalor. This is so very wrong and still they are passing the buck and playing the blame game. In the meantime, nothing has been done to help these people.
"The Washington retirement home formerly known as "The Soldier's and Airmen's Home,
opened in 1851 to wounded and disabled war veterans. It is home to more than one thousand une hundred retirees."
Let me see now, we have enough tax dollars to provide for the invasion of the illegal immigrants in the form of:
*food
*housing
* public education for their children
* medical expense when they or their
children become ill.
*deliver their babies for free
* extend hospital expense in emergencies
* incarceration
*Social Security
*SSI for those who have children
*Free prescription coverage
*College tuition/books/room & board
This list continues, but I will leave it here for now, but we cannot take care of our military, past and present with the love, understanding, dignity and respect they all deserve?

This breaks my heart, and yet, does not surprise me: illegals are much more important, it seems, than the Veterans, who earned the right to be taken care of. Shame, shame, shame! on the government for ignoring those who served. Keep speaking out, my (((friend))), if enough get tired of it, they will say NO MORE! I am saying, "NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" A powerfully shattering condemnation, excellently penned.

Having worked with veterans, and having spent far too much time in Washington, I can tell you that our bureaucrats and politicians are very aware of the many problems in veteran health care, but they just choose to ignore, and to spend our tax money on important things - like ridiculous pork barrel projects which get them more votes.
When will be enough...enough?
