Many in the Body of Christ do not know the importance of knowing the Lord intimately past what they think that they know. This intimacy brings you into a deeper level of your relationship with Him, through knowing Him by His many names, which cannot be explained. This is a revelation that I caught a couple of years ago when my Pastor preached a message based on Exodus 6:3, which states, “And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.”  A teaching was birthed from this message and an annual program as well, titled The Names of God.

            God wants His people to really know Him. We may think that we know Him, but we really do not. Our God is so awesome that in our human form of language, we can barely describe His attributes. He is bigger than our words and we cannot even comprehend His greatness. This world system has deteriorated the mind of man since the fall of Adam.

            As a participant in the annual program, I wanted an unusual name that is not often spoken into the atmosphere. So I chose Jehovah Immeku, “The Lord Is With You.” Searching the scriptures, I found that this name is based in Judges 6:12. “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”  This was the call of Gideon to do mighty work for the Lord. Notice that he was called that thing that he was not, but would become. There are many parts to the account of Gideon.  The one thing that was revealed to me during this time was that when God is with you, He gives you unusual strategies. In Judges 7:15-22, the strategy of the pitchers and lamps was a very unusual strategy that not only defeated the enemy, but caused confusion so that they turned upon each other. We need to ask the Lord for strategies that will outwit and quickly defeat the enemy.

            Continuing in my search I found Joshua 1:5, “There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” There are many different victories that God gave Joshua, especially the one that everyone is familiar with, Jericho. But in Joshua Chapter 3, the Lord gives directions for crossing the Jordan, because He was taking the people to a new place. When they saw the ark they were to go after it at a proper distance, but not closely. This was so that they could see the way clearly.  The most important instruction was Joshua 3:5. “And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”  The crossing was miraculous just like going through the Red Sea fleeing the Egyptians, although more was required. God placed the weight of His glory moving through the earthen vessels of man as the priests who carried the ark stood in the Jordan, the waters stood up in a heap. (Joshua 3:17).

            God was with Joseph in every phase of his life from being placed in the pit when he was a youth, to Potiphar’s house, to the jail, and finally elevated second to Pharaoh. “And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. (Genesis 39:2-3). The Lord opened the eyes of Potiphar to see that the blessing was with, in and upon Joseph. The result was increase and prosperity in his house because of this servant. The blessing continues even in prison when Potiphar placed Joseph there as a result of listening to the false complaints of his wife.

            Many people in the business world system have no idea that God has placed His representatives among them not only to be a witness for Him, but also bless and empower. A lot of times they are mistreated and leave taking the blessing with them to the next place. It does not matter where they go when God is with them it will be evident. Joseph ended up second in command to the Pharaoh, with Potiphar under him. Remember when the enemy uses someone in the workplace to demote you, count it all joy because God has a plan to raise you up. It may get a little uncomfortable in the wait. Just know that He is moving behind the scenes to prepare the next place for your arrival, because they are not ready to handle what you possess as of yet.

            Elevation and promotion by God causes a multitude of enemies to arise. When the Philistines heard that David was made King of Israel, they gathered together to attach him. (2 Samuel 5). But David had a heart after God and inquired for a strategy before he made a move. He would not have asked God for help, if he did not know that God was with him because of their relationship. In the first battle, God was so awesome in defeating the enemy that David named the location Baalperazim. Lord (Master) of the breakthroughs. The strategy for the second battle was unusual which involved listening and waiting for a sound from the Lord. When God is with you, the enemy is defeated and destroyed no matter what he uses to come against you.

            The Names of God program took place during the weekend of the celebration of Purim, which is in the book of Esther. It is important to note that the name of God is not mentioned anywhere in the book of Esther. But He was with her when she stepped out in faith against the threat of annihilation by the enemy.

            Learning the many names of God and applying them to our daily prayers and worship brings us into an intimate revelation unlike before. There is an increase in desire to know Him and His many attributes. In this season I am seeking the Lord about new places and territories. I want the instructions for the crossing into new territories that I have never been in and do not have a clue how to maneuver except under the direction of the Holy Spirit. I want to step out in faith in the areas that He has ordained and I am not familiar with. When He gives you something that you did not ask for or even have a thought about, stand in awe for a moment, listening for the instructions, and then step in faith knowing that He is with you.

“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.
