God speaks. To one who is listening and has an ear to hear what He is saying for that season and time, the key is to listen. He speaks however and through whatever or whomever He pleases. If you are paying attention spiritually, you will know that it is the Lord and He is speaking to you to lead you.

          Recently, I was in conversation with a man of God and he shared a scripture with me that God had him meditating on. “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” (Hosea 10:12). As he was speaking and expounding on the fallow ground, I was led to search the scripture in different versions as I always do. As I read the scripture in the Amplified version, all I could hear was “it is time to seek the Lord until He comes and teaches you.”

          Many seek the Lord on a daily basis, but I felt that this was different. I questioned about my seeking. Had I grown lukewarm in my time with Him? Yes. Had the fire and passion of the earlier years diminished over time because of the many distractions of the enemy? Yes. Is this a crucial, strategic and pivotal time of seeking Him for truth, revelation and to be fine tuned to discern for what is to come in the second part of this year, 2013? Yes.

          A door of association was opened to me as I was working on a new project to come in contact with three people in the Body of Christ operating in three different types of ministries on a national level of exposure. After each conversation, the one word that described how I felt is provoked. I felt a stirring of activity to bring about something different. At the end of each conversation, I asked one question. ‘What is the one word that would describe you?’ The answers were servant, student, and worshipper. I was asked the same question once and my answer was hunger. Without any doubt I knew that it was time to seek the Lord like never before. Something was and is missing that I need that is vital in my journey with the Lord. The question how desperate am I for whatever it is? How bad do I want it?

          Earlier I heard in my spirit that I needed to go back to my original place of prayer. In another season, I moved my place of prayer into my bedroom as I was led. Now it was time to go back to re-dig that praying ground for the wealth of untapped treasure in the wells. Now it is time to dig deeper.

          Thinking on the word well, let me to the wells of Abraham in Genesis 26. When Isaac revisited the well of his father, “the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.” (Genesis 26:15). Even though this was a place that I had been before, the enemy had come in and stopped the flow of living water and filled the well with the earth of circumstances. What has he done to stop or hinder me? The first thing that comes to mind is distraction. The enemy has lowered my sight to the point that my eyes no long look to the hills which cometh the help that I need. The shift is in the deception to do it yourself, thinking that you are progressing but continually off tract and out of the perfect will of God.  The enemy has used the element of time, which is natural to deceive your focus and war against the revelation that force and spirit of your faith should dominate and override time.

          After the well was filled with earth, the enemy waged war against the mind using everything of the natural hindrances, such as wrong thinking, doubt, unbelief and confusion. You know that the flow is there, but nothing is moving. You are at a stand still and you feel stagnant spiritually wondering where you are in the purpose and destiny that God has spoken.

This is the point in digging in prayer. There has to be a change. You want it. You are desperate for it. It is time to seek the Lord like never before. Has faith activated the desire to seek, to dig out those things in the spirit to be released in the due season? What are the hidden treasures, the mysteries, that you have been prepared to handle, that will be revealed? My faith is the shovel and the Holy Spirit will direct and guide me to the right place. I must dig again and the depth that I reached before will not work this time for more is required of me. What worked and sustained in the last season, will not provide the capability to understand the revelation that God is imparting. For He has waited for me to get to this point for the release.

In Genesis 28:19, the location of the digging was in a valley. A valley is a low place between high areas such as mountains. Sometimes it can be a place where you would never think that you would be at this time, or you have been in this place a long time. Even though you don’t even understand and definitely do not want to be there, DIG! There is springing water. How else will you know except you pull out your shovel of faith and DIG! Springing water is water that bubbles up and come forth. It is trapped waiting to be tapped by your shovel of faith. Yield to the Holy Spirit for directions to the right place because He knows what is in the ground beneath the surface that has been hidden just for you. 

There is a fruitful place even in the valley where the Lord will make room for you that the enemy cannot stop you from entering into the overflow if you keep digging. “And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.” (Genesis 28:22). Shake the devil off and keep digging. This is not the time to be passive. You must be aggressive in your faith for the dig. Treasures are waiting for you.

          When Isaac moved to Beersheba, the Lord appeared to him the same night as his arrival and spoke of the covenant that He had with Abraham and the blessings. God reassured Isaac that He had not forgotten His words. Isaac’s encounter with God was so awesome that he built an altar and dug another well. It was at this point that Isaac’s enemies came to make peace because they realized that God was with him. While all of this was going on, the servants were still digging and tapped into another well.

          This is the time to seek the Lord. Not for things that are needed. He knows everything about you. Just  spend time with Him and get to know Him past what you think you know. Our God is so magnificent that it is impossible for your human mind to think that you know all about Him. Remember we are talking about the Creator of everything that we see. Get into that place that He wants to share mysteries with you. Once you tap into the water that is in the well, don’t forget that there is more underneath. You don’t just want to taste that which is on the surface. If you dig deeper you find that there is a difference in the taste. It will be sweeter.

O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

 (Psalm 92:5)

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (I Corinthians 2:10)
