Recently, I was praying with someone in a telephone conversation and the words ‘the deep change’ came out of my mouth. I knew immediately that those words were important. I grabbed my pen and a sticky note to write them down. I have learned over the years to keep a pen and paper with me always.

          About a week later, I was in prayer for a particular person and was told to ask if they were ready for the deep change. Of course, I pondered when, where, and how I would complete this assignment. Nevertheless, as a hearer, I also needed to be the first partaker of this word, which I needed to seek out.

          The ‘deep change’ is a process that begins with the mind and the way one thinks, but also involves the heart. “For as he thinks in his heart so is he.” Proverbs 23:7. Our thoughts have to be renewed before they are lodged in the heart, which results in that which one becomes.

          There is always a battle for the mind of the Believer. The mind is the place of thoughts before action is taken. The mind is a place of creativity. Your mind is so powerful and that is why the enemy is always attacking in some form or another.

          We are given instructions in Romans 12:2, to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. One of the versions of scripture that I like is in the Voice. “Do not allow this world to mold you to its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing and complete.” In addition, the renewing of the mind positions one to know, understand and recognize God’s plan for life.

          Conforming to the world system marks one to embrace the systems of the ordinary, when as a Believer you are called to the extraordinary. Just because you are born again does not mean that you will think differently. Your spirit is made new, not your mind. That is why every vain imagination must be cast down that is in defiance and attempts to be exalted again the knowledge of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5).

          Thoughts are powerful and are constantly building in the brain. Thinking is a process that continues daily and moves through time. There are thoughts in your mind from the past that will have an effect on the now and the future, which have not been dealt with. The mind works through thoughts (thinking), which leads to feeling and then to choice. Choice is the point of action where the negative or positive can be built, before it moves to be lodged in the heart.

          One of the most life changing revelations that I received is that Jesus shed blood for me to think differently. The crown of thorns that was placed on His brow pierced His skin for the blood to flow. It completely circled His whole head piercing and it was before He went to the cross.

          Deep change also involves the heart, which can be deceitfully wicked. “The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind.” Jeremiah 17:9-10. God is the one who probes and examines the innermost thought of the mind that enter into the heart. The mind and the heart are connected. The thoughts of the mind can build in the heart to create a hardness, which will not allow anything to penetrate for change except by the Spirit of God.

          This is the time to be careful of your thoughts. Think deeply about the influences and discipline your mind with the Word of God. Your mind changes continuously as you experience the new day. I was reading a book and saw three words at the beginning of a paragraph that resonated with me, which said, “Don’t Limit Me.” I began to think about how and why I limit God in my thinking.  Am I limited in belief, faith or trust? I must remember that my mind is a mighty and God wants to use it to bring His thoughts on the earth. As a Kingdom operative, I must ask Him to prepare my mind and get it ready to receive so that the action can be taken.

Arise, and go down to the potter's house,

and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

       Then I went down to the potter's house, and,

behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

     And the vessel that he made of clay was marred

in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel,

 as seemed good to the potter to make it.

Jeremiah 18:2-4 KJV

 Let this mind be in you, which was also in

Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:5

As the Scriptures say,

“Who can know what is on the Lord’s mind?
    Who is able to give him advice?”

But we have been given Christ’s way of thinking.
