IS YOUR LIGHT ON?
One of the things that I am most passionate about is making a mark that cannot be erased as Believer while I am on this planet. Recently I was reading a familiar scripture (to me), and had thoughts about purpose and identity. “Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come To do Your will, O God—To fulfill what is written of Me in the scroll of the book.” Hebrews 10:7 AMP.
It is written and knowledge for all that Jesus came into the world to save us from the life of sin. He came to fulfill the will of the Father, which was already written. It was His purpose. Even though Believers received the gift of salvation through the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross, the question is about the fulfillment of what is already written for the life of a Believer.
God has a plan for everyone that is born on this planet and He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, a scripture that is quoted frequently. He has the plan, but do we know the plan and are we in agreement with the plan? I like the Message version of that scripture which states, “I know what I am doing. I have it all planned out, plans to take care of you, not to abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” His plans are already written in the book with your name on it before you even lived one day. “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalms 139:6 NLT.
Have you ever thought to ask God for a glimpse of what is in your book? It an be called the ‘coming attraction’ movie of your life. I have asked and only ask for what I can handle. Besides, God know us and that is why there are the secret things that can only be revealed at the appointed time.
Knowing your identity in the Kingdom does not always mean that you know your purpose. You may have been one who has lost time in the early years of your life, and one day like the prodigal son, come to yourself to come back into the waiting arms of the Father.
Jesus came to be the light of the world that was and is filled with darkness. “Once again Jesus spoke to the people. This time he said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won't be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.” John 8:12 CEV. As we follow Him there is that light, His light that we have and should be walking in so that everyone can see. It is the born-again experience for the new creation of the Believer in Christ, that gives us the opportunity to carry the light because He lives with us. “My old self has been crucified with Christ.[a] It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 NLT.
Does your light shine so that anyone that you encounter will know that there is something very different about you? Are they drawn to you to engage in conversation? Did they say that there was just something about you? Is that your opportunity to tell them why and what they see about you? We are called to witness and be a witness. Proverbs 14:25 states “that a true witness delivereth souls.”
It is time to be the witness that we are to be because many souls are in the valley of decision. The Bible states in Isaiah 5:14, that hell enlarges daily with its mouth open wide. It has an appetite for souls. The Great Commission is still in effect. “Then he said, “Go into the world. Go everywhere and announce the Message of God’s good news to one and all.” Mark 6:15 MSG. Is there a renewed hunger for souls? As a Believer, you are a witness to many of the power of God in the earth. Take your light off of dim and turn it up to beam with the radiant glory that is within.
The ways of right-living people glow with light;
the longer they live, the brighter they shine.
Proverbs 4:18 MSG
Nations north and south, peoples east and west, will be drawn to your light,
will find purpose and direction by your light.
In the radiance of your rising, you will enlighten the leaders of nations.
