Many things will occur in the life of a Believer that will be an attempt to shake the core of their foundation, depending upon the type and use of the building material. There is a tendency in society focus on the things that are temporal and subject to change. Recently, I had the opportunity to be a part of a ministerial group, Restore, Refresh and Refocus, and their theme was "Bring Forth the Hay It will Burn, But God's Word will Remain Forever", which inspired this article. These are the days in which Believers must remember the one and only true foundation, who is Jesus Christ.

          The passage of scripture in Matthew 7:24-27 is given for an understanding of the wise and foolish builders. The wise builder, built his house upon the rock and could withstand the natural elements that could have cause a collapse. The foolish build his house upon sand, which could shift when the storm came. So, the question is who is your rock?

          “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2 AMP . There are two Hebrew words that re translated as ‘my stronghold.’ The first is ma’oz, meaning a place of strength and protection when one can flee quickly. The second word is misgab, which means a secure height or retreat which inaccessible.

          Building your life on the rock, who is Jesus, comes with protection. It is one of the many benefits of the daily load. “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” Psalm 68:19 KJV. The knowledge of your identity and position as a member of the Body of Christ fortifies you in your faith. You need to remember that you are not just anyone and who resides on the inside of you. The Word of God reinforces and strengthens so that you become unmovable and steadfast.

          There is a particular scripture that brings out a courageous boldness that I have found. “He alone is my rock and my salvation, My defense and my strong tower; I will not be shaken or disheartened.” Psalm 62:2 AMP. “He only is my rock and my salvation; My fortress and my defense, I will not be shaken or discouraged.” Psalm 62:6 AMP.  My decree is that I will not be shaken discouraged or disheartened. The prefix ‘dis’ means to be on the opposite of or to remove. So, in essence, the plan of the enemy is to make you lose the foundation or put a crack in it as you focus on what is temporal and fleeting. The attack on the mind is a part of a greater plan to remove the courage and steadfastness that has been built by the Word of God.

          Faith is your building material. Faith in the Almighty, Omnipotent God that we serve. ‘See those people polishing their chariots, and those others grooming their horses?  But we’re making garlands for God our God. The chariots will rust, those horses pull up lame, and we’ll be on our feet, standing tall.” Psalm 20:7-8 MSG. Check your building material to see if it meets the requirements for foundation. “ Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as committed believers. Examine yourselves, not me! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves by an ongoing experience that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test and are rejected as counterfeit?” 2 Corinthians 13:5 AMP.

The grass withers, the flower fades
    as the breath of the Eternal One blows away. People are no different from grass.
 The grass withers, the flower fades;
    nothing lasts except the word of our God.
It will stand forever.
