Selling more books doesn't have to take hours! With just 20 minutes you can do your marketing for the day and make a significant difference.
Too often book promotion goes at the end of our "to do" list because it all seems to take up so much time but book marketing services aren't always necessary. Regardless of whether you have chosen to self publish or have been published by a traditional publisher, there are dozens of things you can do in less than twenty minutes. Added together, they will help round out your book marketing efforts to create a significant difference in selling your book.
[1] Sell autographed books through Autographed by Author at www.autographedbyauthor.com! Sign up for $29.95 ($19.95 for each additional book) and they will send readers to your web site to buy the autographed book directly from you. They rank high in search engines so it will bring you new customers. Many people don't know how to sell books on the internet in unique ways. This is a fast way to start, especially if you've chosen to self-publish your book.
[2] Make sure your book(s) at Amazon.com are tagged appropriately so you don't have to ask "How and where can I sell my books?" Go to your book's Amazon page and scroll down to "Tags customers associate with this product" and add your own tags, listing any keywords customers may use to find you. Don't forget that your tags should include the problems people are searching by. Instead of tagging your book "marriage tips" or "relationship expert" understand that people are searching for phrases like "avoiding divorce" or "cheating spouse." Pretty soon you're niche will make you a professional at how to sell books on Amazon.
[3] Do a reverse "pen stealing." Always carry a stash of pens in your purse, briefcase and car with your books information and web site. When you go into stores, pull one your own pen to sign the credit card slip and then casually leave it behind. Join a book marketing network to help you think of more out-of-the-box book marketing ideas.
[4] Go to www.google.com/alerts and sign up for Google Alerts on any topics you should be "in the know" about. Particularly, be sure to note any blogs where articles on your topic are posted. Drop by them and make a comment and introduce yourself. If you write articles on this topic (which you should be), let the host of the blog know where they can find the articles and that they are welcome to reprint them. This is a good way to sell books online.
[5] Do you have an excellent quote in your book that people are going to highlight? Let's hope you have at least a few nuggets! Submit your quotes to quotation databases. Just Google "submit quote" or "submit quotation." You can also submit on at About.com's web site at http://quotations.about.com/library/bl/blform-Quote-Suggest.htm
[7] Give your readers a call! It's easy and less expensive then sending a postcard to blast out a voice broadcast to people for just $.12 per call. One company, VoiceShot Outbound http://www.voiceshot.com offers 200 complimentary delivered calls. This is a unique and fun personal way to relate with people on your mailing list. When was the last time you received a phone call from your favorite author? I haven't yet, but it would sure get my attention!
When book marketing ideas come to you that you don't have time to pursue, write down your idea or bookmark the web site, and consider organizing the ideas by the approximate amount of time it may take to accomplish the talk. Then, when you have just a few minutes of free time start working through your list and soon your promotional efforts will sell your books!
Send in your best book marketing idea. If it's chosen you will get a free e-book about promoting your book! Thank you! Very helpful. I am always looking for marketing tips. There's John Kremer's helpful books and his ezine, also the books, Guerilla Marketing and Jump Start Your Book Sales that are helpful. I've just begun blogging, but am enjoying the process. Gail L. Jenner, author of 3 nonfiction regional histories and the Willa Award-winning, ACROSS THE SWEET GRASS HILLS. gailjenner.com.
