Happiness to me just is.
It doesn't come along every day but when it does it
is special. If there was too much of a good thing that
would be like being locked inside a candy store.
What I mean is that we as individuals strive for happiness in
our lives but life itself is not always happy. It is the way in
which we perceive our everyday lives and the people we invite
into them that make our world spin for us. To be on top of the
world each and every day is unrealistic. Why not strive for
contentment in yourself.
I was with a few of my friends and we were browsing through
this coffee table book about Elvis. I am not old enough to
have seen him in his early days and I never went to any of
his concerts here in USA, but my older brothers had all his
records and 45's (as they used to call them way back when!)
Most parents back in the 1950's used to send their daughters
out of the room when Elvis came on tv. He was just too
shocking and that very thing made him famous! Along with
his talent. The wonderful thing that I did notice while looking
through this coffee table book (a coffee table book is a huge book with lots of pictures and anecdotes of the person...the photography is usually
amazing...and this one was!)
Anyway, one time instead of looking at all the photos of Elvis, I noticed
the people in the audience. They all looked so happy!! All through
the book, I notice this. I asked my friends if they notice too and they
said, "YES!, Why aren't people this happy anymore?"
I looked around the coffee shop where I was that day and I saw people
looking worried, rushed, some were happy but not too many. I guess
it was a simplier time, a time of prosperity in America. A time
where the American Dream was something you could shoot for and
little boys wanted to be the President of the United States and or
dream about being an astronaut and going to the Moon someday!
Those were the kind of dreams people dreamed back then.
Happiness is something good to strive for but being happy
in yourself is even better. Just like the audence in that coffee
table book, those people were happy at the moment, living life
for NOW and not worried about tomorrow.
Enjoy today because today is a present you give to yourself
It's free, its beautiful and its yours for the taking!
Money doesn't buy happiness...
Happiness Just IS....
just my two cents here...
I hope you smile today :)
