Why does it always seem to rain on a weekend?
Why does it always seem to be this way???

This weekend is a big one for the North Texas area.

And, like always, they're calling for rain this weekend. AGAIN.

Our hapless Texas Rangers home opener is today...maybe THIS year will be the year they actually DO something. Maybe they need a spark...if it storms this weekend, they just might get the chance.

There is a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway. Over 205,000 racefans are expected to cheer their favorite drivers on to victory. A lot of them camp out...gonna be a mess if it rains...it turns into a muddy lake out there. Really sticky, oozy mud.

It happens every time, it seems. Anytime there is a big event planned, especially on a weekend, the forecasters seem to get together & say, "We're sorry, folks, it's the weekend, take your umbrella with you, we're expecting flash flooding, some hail, some wind, maybe even a tornado to make things interesting. But have a good time!!" (Okay, so I'm exaggerating.)

But remember Mayfest 1995??? The costliest hailstorm in Texas weather history hit that weekend.

And every year, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Exposition (used to be called the Fort Worth Fat Stockshow...guess somebody got offended & wanted the name changed to a more politically correct one), which is held at the end of January & into February, seems to attract inclement weather. Sometime during the three week run, we get a cold spell (an artctic "blue norther") & ice.

It rained LAST weekend. Between 2-4 inches of rain fell. So did some hail...here in Burleson, it was mostly pea- to marble-sized, but there were some quarter & half dollar sized hailstones.

It rained part of the weekend the weekend before. (Hunh??) It rained on Sunday, continued into Monday & Tuesday. We only had 6" of rainfall then.

WHAT GIVES???

I know, I know...I need to shut up & stop whining (do you want some WHINE to go along with that cheese??). Come July & August, the hottest months of the year here in North Texas, we'll be BEGGING for some rain.

But do we always have to get it all at once & always at the beginning of the year & ALWAYS on the weekend?????
