Preventive winter care is preparing for the worst before it occurs. A perfect example is heading to the doctor to get your yearly flu shot. Makes perfect sense. In some circumstances, it might not forestall the flu, but it might lessen the flu symptoms. Here are a few preventive care tips or tips to winterize your body.
Preventive Care/Winterize Your Body
Vitamins – Do you take vitamins daily? It is best to only take what your own body requires instead of random mega doses of vitamins. Remember to check with your doctor before taking any vitamin. Here is a tip: stay on the safe side, and make sure that the vitamin does not interfere with other medications or over the counter drugs that you take.
Water – Are you drinking adequate amounts of water? Your body's water requirements depend on your age, gender, and health condition. Now, here is the real deal. Water keeps the body well hydrated, lubricates internal organs, balances body fluids, keeps skin supple and youthful. The water also helps eliminate toxins in the body. Water is definitely good for your body.
Juice – Water is not the only liquid that you should drink. Add juice to the menu. Juices supply additional vitamins and minerals. Select one with an extra dose of Vitamin C to rev up the immune system and combat colds and the flu.
Get Physical – Winter is the time that a lot of us turn into the veritable couch potato. Instead, get active and exercise. Go outside in the fresh air and enjoy the invigorating weather or get involved with a winter sport that you enjoy.
Fresh Air/Sunlight – Fight SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder by getting outside in the sunlight. The problem is that a lot of us stay inside during the winter. Plus, the sky is dark and depressing. This leads to those down emotions. Natural outdoor light stimulates the body and the immune system. Certainly, that frosty air nipping at your nose helps to boost emotional well-being and reduces stress.
Moisturize – While you are outside breathing in fresh air and reveling in sunlight, don't forget to moisturize your skin. Summer is not the only time to keep the skin hydrated. The key to keeping skin glowing in the winter months is to find a good oil-based moisturizer for your dry skin. Look for products with Shea butter, Coconut oil, or Argan oil.
These are just a few suggestions to apply to your body care routine during the cold weather. Certainly, winter weather affects people differently. Some people actually enjoy the cold weather, while others become a bit blue and moody. These tips are designed to help winterize your inner and outer body and build up your winter
resistance to winter's harsh effects.
