Stopping the wasteful spending in Washington is OUR responsibility.

Those of us who are politically aware will remember the hideous words of Michele Obama, who, following her husband’s nomination as the Democrat party’s presidential candidate, said, “For the first time in my life, I’m proud of my country.”  Many were furious at her obvious lack of gratitude to those who worked and died so that she could live peaceably in the freedom that was provided her by the sacrifices of others.  The mindless and reckless statement made in ignorance and hubris, also indicated an ugly and vile spirit of her own sense of entitlement.  But what caused many to recoil from Mrs. Obama‘s words, was the fact that she also trivialized America’s great characteristics, basing her national “pride” on something as cheap as the nomination of a black man as a candidate for president.

In November of that same year, 2008, for the first time in my life, I was ashamed of my country--a nation that I have given most of my life to protect and defend.  Voters in that election chose to ignore Obama’s clear and palpable unfitness to assume the highest office in the land.  His ties to terrorist William Ayers, his close association with the malevolent racist, Jeremiah Wright, as well as his utter disregard for the U.S. Constitution, should have been enough to disqualify any candidate.  And if these were not egregious enough, persistent questions about his citizenship, his reference to an unwanted pregnancy as “punished with a baby” and his pathetically poor attendance record in the U.S. Senate, should have been.   The list of negatives goes on and on, and the positives were nearly nonexistent.  Today, America is reaping a bumper crop of misery, desperation, hopelessness and confusion from this single bad act. 

Obama and a Democrat-controlled Congress have run up a national debt that will burden U.S. citizens of generations yet unborn, and Obama’s new “jobs plan” is based upon--you guessed it--hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending.  Our economy, decimated by the foolish actions of Democrats in Congress and the administration, is, according to many experts, on the verge of collapse.  Unless you are an investor, this is probably new information, because the national media, with its heavy leftist bias, has been protecting its friends in Washington by keeping the truth from the people. 

But there is hope.  That hope is in change.  Because the Democrat party has so supremely botched the past three years, the election of 2012 will bring change, and reverse the course of destruction that America is now cruising.  The House of Representatives, now under the control of sensible Republicans, needs to stonewall every new spending plan proposed by the administration and the Senate.  The House alone, has the authority to raise revenue for the country, and its leaders must consistently use that authority to curtail any further decline in the wealth of the American people by halting any further unnecessary spending. 

The election of Barrack Hussein Obama was a disastrous mistake that Americans will be paying for decades to come.  It’s unfortunate that America’s first black president could not have been a worthy model of integrity and honor.  Sadly, we still do not have a color-blind society.  If we did, Obama would have been rejected at the polls because of his blatant unsuitability.  Instead, he was elected in spite of it, by whites seeking to assuage a false guilt heaped upon them by black leaders and America’s left wing. 

Martin Luther King Jr. said that he dreamed of the day when every man is judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content [or lack] of his character.  I do, also.  But that day is not yet here.  Until it comes, we cannot afford to allow the present government to destroy the country by demonstrably-failed policies of reckless spending and redistribution of the nation’s wealth. 

Please, write to your Congressmen and women demanding that they stop wasting your money now!  The changes that need to be made in Washington will take years to accomplish, but freezing spending now, ensures that there will one day be something left of America to fix.
