Pulling back the curtain on the secular values of political correctness and "tolerance." Have you been fooled?

One of my favorite rock and roll songs from the 1970s is, We won’t be fooled again, by the Who.  It’s a very empowering song in that it makes a declaration that the writer, singer and perhaps, the listener, refuses to be victimized anymore.  It’s a decision that many of us need to make in our own lives today.

Never again does any righteous man or woman need to be victimized by “political correctness” (PC) or condemned for failing to be “tolerant.”  Ignorance has permitted the ungodly to silence too many righteous people with the verses, “Judge not lest ye be judged,” and “Let him who has no sin, cast the first stone.”  Many who know no other passages of scripture, know one of these.  Both of these are usually employed for the wrong reasons by taking them out of context, of course. 

Even the ungodly realize that people who possess integrity--those whose beliefs and actions are integrated--own moral authority.  Since the unrighteous lives of liberals and the wicked and their capricious opinions will never permit them to possess moral authority legitimately, they steal it or counterfeit it.  They use political correctness as a primary weapon with which to bash the righteous, but PC is nothing more or less than the world’s self-righteousness.  It says, “Yes, sin is wrong, but, (judgmentally) you are more wrong for saying so,” or “I know what the Bible says, but who are you to judge?”  Here, the speaker is actually passing his own judgment, manufactured out of thin air.  Contrary to the claims of the self-righteous, speaking the truth is never an act of judgment. 

Pharisees were rampant in Jesus’ day and they hold a majority in America today.  We know them as liberals.  They pervert the word of God for their own purposes, one of which is to justify their own sinful behavior, or that of their friends and family members.  Condemnation of righteousness or the righteous is always a clear sign that you are confronting someone who is bent on justifying evil. 

The main weakness of self-righteous political correctness, is that it’s only effective against the ignorant.  If the Bible says that homosexuality is “very grave sin,” which it does, and I, seeing that it is true , agree with God and the Bible, how am I being judgmental?  God is the Judge, and judgment is His right.  But the ungodly and the liberal, reserve their most malicious condemnation for the truly righteous--those who genuinely seek the righteousness of God.

Tragically, self-righteousness is at work in many of America’s mainline churches.  Why?  Ignorance of scripture.  Many churches are now seeking their own righteousness or the righteousness of the world, instead of God’s righteousness.  Because they desire the approval of a corrupt secular society, churches involve themselves in efforts to feed the hungry without providing the food of the gospel.  Some promote same-sex marriage claiming they seek equity for everyone.  Some chase after environmental extremism or “social justice.”  (One should always be suspicious of those who place descriptors ahead of justice). 

Some churches condemn Israel’s efforts to protect its people from terrorism, by resettling lands that have been theirs for 3000 years.  Churches do this in an effort to gain the favor of a corrupt world, siding with Palestinian terrorists.  It must be remembered that the “Palestinians,” unlike Israel, are not a people and have never been a people or a nation.  

Foolishly, mainline churches believe that in taking up these political causes, they will achieve peace with the world.  But scripture says that friendship with the world is enmity toward God.  One can either please God and offend the world, or offend God and please the world.  I choose to offend the world whenever possible.  

What is known today as “tolerance” is nothing more than counterfeit kindness.  Some may even confuse tolerance with “love,” but it’s a hoax.  Its proponents are tolerant only of wickedness.  They are viciously intolerant of the righteous, and judge them brutally with all the fervor of the most devoted religious zealot. 

It’s ironic and baffling that those who are so close to obtaining genuine moral authority, would settle for fraudulent self-righteousness.  Matthew 7:1 is not the only scripture dealing with judgment.  Jesus also tells us, “Judge not according to appearances, but judge with a righteous judgment.”  Christ also says, “For judgment I have come into this world…” so clearly, never judge, is a bogus mandate. 

It’s becoming more important than ever before, for people to be able to “rightly divide the word of truth,” especially, the truth about judgment.  In the Beatitudes, Jesus tells us, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they will be filled.”  If that’s you, decide today, that you won’t be silenced by self-righteous liberals or the ungodly Pharisees of the 21st century.  Then you can sing the song with a new passion declaring, “We won’t be fooled again!”
