What Fools We Are

Do you not see what’s going on in this country?  Because we have had two recent Democrat presidents who got away with violating their oaths of office, we now have a Virginia State Attorney General who refuses to do his job, and a governor who promises he will act in defiance of the General Assembly “if necessary” to impose his political will on the people of Virginia.  When will someone tell these dirt-bags, “Hell No!”

Our representatives lack either the power, the character, or the courage to impeach them, the local and national media refuse to report the real stories, and most citizens are too ignorant or lazy to notice.  Anyone who depends upon the nightly news on television to learn the issues of the day is an abject fool.  You see and hear only what they choose to present to you--nothing more.

We tend to think of ourselves as smart because we can operate computers and cell phones, but third world uneducated nomads can do those things.  Intellectually and morally, we are imbeciles.  People who graduated from public schools just one hundred years ago, with nothing more than an eight-grade education would put most of today’s college graduates to shame.  The writers of the classics are such as these, and many former presidents. 

The public school system in America is abysmal, and we blame everyone and anyone else for the result of the damage they have done.   We blame inadequate funding, uninvolved parents, political turmoil, and corporations that “ship jobs overseas.”  The truth is that no one “ships jobs overseas.”  Our burdensome taxes and endless federal regulations make it unprofitable for companies to remain here and drive them there, and we continue to allow our government to chase them away. 

Our border with Mexico would be better called a rest-stop for illegal immigrants.  Jobs in the construction and landscaping trades are being stolen by these criminals, and who cares?  “They don’t affect my life?”  Really?

Our churches have forsaken every moral standard.  Most mainline denominations now accept homosexuals and lesbians in the clergy, and allow them to perform same-sex “marriages.”  When they are brought up on charges, as in the United Methodist Church, the Judicial Council has no desire to hold them accountable.  Instead of the prescribed punishment of expulsion, a renegade clergy may be suspended for 24 hours, but nothing more.  The result?  More lawlessness, disobedience, and defiance. 

The best days of America are indeed, behind us.  The reason?  We no longer have the courage and tenacity to demand that our leaders, teachers, clergy, and ourselves, do what they promised they would do.  Whether it’s to uphold our laws, educate our children, uphold God’s law, or adhere to any standard of honesty, we can’t be troubled, it’s too hard. 

In one more generation, America will not have a majority of people who even know what righteousness is, and they certainly won’t have the guts to demand it of their leaders or themselves.  The United States stands at the precipice of a great fall.  And we who could prevent it, merely stand by and watch.
