The White House, the media and the Left will blame everyone and everything except the central cause--their own failed policies.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragic murders at a “gay” nightclub in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, media anchors, political pundits and politicians will output their knee-jerk reactions.  They are predictable and are already out in circulation.  Firearms, and the accessibility of them, Islamic terrorism, homophobia, and anti-gay bigotry will all be pushed by one group or another in order to advance their preferred agenda.  But a year from now, next month or even tomorrow, when a greater act of carnage erupts, America will be no closer to reducing the number or intensity of these horrors than we are today.

It’s become almost too elementary to mention, but if we would take away all the guns in America today, tomorrow the death tolls would skyrocket.  Guns would be stolen by criminals from law enforcement, from military agencies and from security companies.  If guns become too difficult to obtain, bombs are easy to make and much more deadly.  Clearly, guns and access to them are not the problem.

Some will say that homophobia, anti-gay sentiment or even hate is the problem, but again, that’s clearly the wrong answer.  Hate is a normal and natural response to something abhorrent.  The only effective way to eradicate hatred is to eliminate all of the people.  Rooting out every potential terrorist within our country is not feasible either.  There is no way man can predict evil intent in another man with any degree of certainty.  Dangerous people will always be among us.  That’s a fact we cannot escape.

America is deeply divided and bitterly polarized and fractured.  In our unwillingness to forfeit our own selfish interests, ideals, dreams, philosophies (whether religious or irreligious), perceptions of good and evil, and often, our own personal depravity for the sake of celebrating diversity, we forsake any hope of securing unity as a nation.  For a brief period post 9/11, America was largely united against terrorist states.
Admittedly, it’s a horrible thought, but perhaps another war will be required for us to be drawn back together as a nation. 

As a people, we have a problem that some might call terminal-uniqueness.  A part of our heritage as Americans is self-reliance.  By itself, it’s a good trait to possess and inspire in others.  But somewhere in our post-war prosperity, our individuality became a twisted ideal unto itself where many among us seem to believe that their identity exists in holding to a personal set of ideas that no one else possesses.

The real problem to be solved, and our only hope for a happy future together is to bridge the divisions that deeply polarize us, and that is not likely to occur any time soon.  Why?  Because it requires some or most, to forfeit what they refuse to part with--their sinful, selfish and wicked lusts. 

Those of us who remember the 1960s recall a time when mass murders, sexual assaults, celebrating perversity and terrorist attacks were rare or unheard of.  Abortion was illegal because everyone knew it was evil.  Today, these are all commonplace.  We were once and for most of our history, largely united in a common belief in God, a common belief in morality and a common respect for law.  It was not a perfect paradise, nor was there justice for all.  But one generation after World War II, we forgot what and who we are and everyone began to do what was right in his own eyes, but is wrong in God’s eyes.  

Contrary to the professions of the Left, diversity is not America’s strength.  Diversity is a weakness.  For America as a nation, unity is our strength and we have lost it.  Certainly, there can exist diversity among a united people.  But the unifying identity that Americans once shared has been discarded as unnecessary, condemned as elitist and even rejected as a hindrance to free expression and happiness.    

It’s worth considering that homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals might be safer returning to the closet.  Flaunting gross immorality and defiant wickedness that is hideous, odious and wretched to an overwhelming majority of people is a foolish and dangerous course of action. 

Those who come to the United States from other cultures--some of which are infinitely more moral than our own--are going to be offended and repulsed by the rampant depravity that has become a defining characteristic of our culture.  No amount of education, sensitivity training or political indoctrination will change that. 

The recent deadly events in Orlando, San Bernardino, Boston and New York prove unmistakably, that police and law enforcement agencies are far more effective at responding to crime than preventing it.  In fact, crime prevention is nearly impossible in a free society.  Our freedom to live our lives openly places each of us a risk of death every day, and when that life is repugnant, there exists the potential for deadly conflict.  

Like spoiled children, many American adults are still as rebellious as 1960s protesters.  They look in the wrong places for solutions to a problem that they refuse to acknowledge.  There is no power on earth that can restrain the evil devices of the unredeemed human heart.  As the prophet Jeremiah noted, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?”  Nothing we attempt to do within our culture that excludes God will be anywise effective in altering the sinful nature we carry within us.  Only the Redeemer himself can change the human heart.

Today we have an entire political party that has devoted itself to dividing and fracturing our nation’s unity.  Amazingly, it promotes the most vile forms of wickedness: murder, sexual depravity, lust and rebellion and then condemns the predictable and violent fruit of its own policies and practices.  Hillary Clinton is the face of that party.  It’s the party of evil and it must be defeated.  If not, its bitter fruit will destroy us all.
