With his U.N. speech, President Trump broke with the reckless and dangerous policies of the past, and reinstated promises for safety, security and prosperity.

Even as his pointed warnings and bold challenges echoed through the United Nations General Assembly hall, the antagonistic American media and left-wing pundits were already rushing to the nearest microphone or television camera to get their faces on the air in order to bash President Trump’s first United Nations speech.  Nevertheless, true American patriots and freedom-loving people the world over were cheering at the prospect of a coming end to the failures of previous U.S. administrations.

In what will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the best speeches in President Trump’s political career, he rehearsed recent history, inspired the people of the world to take ownership of their futures, and challenged the member nations to combat dictatorial regimes that endanger the lives of their own people. 

One sentence that drew great applause was when the President said, “I will always put America first, just like you, as leaders of your countries will always, and should always, put your countries first.”  It was clearly a stern rebuke of previous Democrat administrations.  Mr. Trump then promised that the United States will be a great friend to the world.  He continued, “But we can no longer be taken advantage of, or enter into a one-sided deal where the United States gets nothing in return.” 

This qualification obviously referred to the disastrous Iran Nuclear Arms deal negotiated by former Secretary of State, John Kerry during the Obama term.  But it also spoke to NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement), the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) and, perhaps, the Paris Climate Accord. 

President Trump urged the “righteous many” to confront the “wicked few” so that evil will not triumph.  He singled out North Korea’s dictator Kim Jung Un, saying, “Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and his regime,” calling on the U.N. nations to work together to isolate Kim’s government until it ceases its belligerent actions. 

The president condemned Iran’s dictatorship masquerading as a democracy and charged that nation’s leaders with impoverishing the Iranian people in order to fund terrorist organizations in Syria, Yemen and Israel and the pursuit of nuclear weapons.  He referred to the Iranian arms deal as “an embarrassment,” pledging to revisit it. 

Next, Mr. Trump stated that his administration will keep sanctions against Cuba in place until the Castro government makes humanitarian reforms.  He also called out Venezuela’s Maduro dictatorship for inflicting disastrous economic policies there.  In another highly popular statement, President Trump said, “The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented.” 

One segment of the President’s speech that is certain to be omitted from Democrat media reports is, “From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish, devastation and failure.  Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems.” 

Democrats and their mainstream media partners have persistently pushed our government toward the miserable system of socialism openly embraced by Vermont Senator, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer. 

President Trump’s speech is already being characterized as nationalistic.  It is being called “pugnacious” because of its firm and unwavering opposition to oppressive and murderous regimes.  Despite his repeated calls for collective engagement among nations, Mr. Trump will likely be accused again of advocating policies of isolationism. 

No United States president has been so viciously slandered, lied about, intentionally mischaracterized and personally attacked by so many people and organizations as has Donald Trump.  The shameful attacks will surely continue. 

Just today, we learned that Donald Trump and his advisors were indeed, under active and illegal surveillance by the previous administration.  When candidate Trump voiced his suspicions about the such efforts, media pundits denounced his claims and ridiculed him.  Today, he was proven right--again.  Charges of “Russian hacking” in the 2016 election, promoted for the past year by national “news media” have been debunked.  But that does not mean they will cease. 

President Trump’s initial address to members of the United Nations was bold, firm and affirming of timeless and universal moral and legal principles.  And despite his promise to work with U.N. members toward common goals, our news media sought out and gave a voice to detractors who proceeded to falsely claim that his speech was a declaration that other nations are “on their own.”  Others expressed fear bordering on paranoia about the president’s warning to North Korea.  Former President Ronald Reagan was similarly denounced for his calls for reformation in the Soviet Union. 

Those of us who watched and listened to the president’s speech with open minds, heard a hopeful and encouraging message.  We heard President Trump break with the reckless and dangerous policies of the past, and reinstate previously abandoned promises for safety, security and prosperity for the future--not just for the United States, but for every nation on earth. 

The president’s noble and worthwhile transformation of U.S. priorities and common U.N. goals presents ample reason for freedom-loving citizens of every nation to cheer.  And cheer we shall.
