In just one week, pivotal events signal a political and cultural sea-change that may cause the massive millstone to be removed from the neck of America.

Last week ended with the embarrassing spectacle of Stephanie Wilkinson, the Democrat owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, asking White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to leave her premises over hatred for President Trump and opposition to his policies.  Mrs. Sanders was then followed to another restaurant and harassed further.  It looked like another wave of trouble for Trump.

Tides change quickly these days however, and a new swell of events occurred that leftists never expected.  Stephanie Wilkinson has been asked to “step aside” from her position as executive director of Main Street Lexington, an organization that seeks to promote local businesses.  But that’s not all.

On the heels of the first wave, California Democrat Congresswoman, Maxine Waters called for relentless harassment of Trump administration officials whenever they are seen in public places.  Members of Congress are now hearing from angry constituents who want Congresswoman Waters expelled, and Congress is considering a resolution for her censure.  Even some Democrats are calling for Waters to be silent.  But that’s not all. 

The past few days brought a number of special gifts for President Trump and supporters of his efforts.  First, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a California law that required crisis pregnancy centers to provide clients with information about state-funded abortion services, in clear violation of their religious liberty.  But that’s not all.   

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the president’s travel ban, rejecting charges by liberals that the ban was unconstitutional because it is essentially a “Muslim ban.”   Two activist federal court judges issued rulings to block the travel ban, but this week, the Supreme Court stuck down those rulings, citing the Constitution’s Separation of Powers clause.  The Constitution gives the president, and not the courts, the authority to regulate entry into the United States.  But that’s not all.

The Supreme Court also ruled that labor unions cannot compel non-union workers to pay union fees which are then used to advocate for political candidates who hold views with which the employee may object.  To do so, the court said, would violate the First Amendment rights of non-union employees, an action worthy to be condemned.  This decision restores liberty to employees, but is disastrous to Democrats, whose candidates are the major recipients of union cash.  But that’s not all.
   
On Wednesday, we learned that Supreme Court Justice, Anthony Kennedy will be retiring at the end of the session in July.  Justice Kennedy has long been called a “swing vote” by pundits because of his erratic voting pattern.  He sided with liberals in the abominable Obergfell case whereby the Court struck down state laws banning same-sex marriages.  As a result, President Trump can now nominate another originalist to the court.  

Liberals and the media will certainly howl, protest and distort facts as has become their sole political strategy.  In fact, it’s already begun.  Before the end of the day, New York Democrat Senator, Chuck Schumer was calling for a delay in confirmation hearings until after the November midterm elections. 

Democrats will malign President Trump’s nominee, whomever it may be.  Senator Schumer will trot out his tired, old, baseless objection that a Republican president’s appointee is “outside the mainstream.”  The media will find numerous legal experts to denounce Trump’s choice as too political or too conservative, but it won’t be true . 

If Supreme Court Justice, Neil Gorsuch is any indication, President Trump’s nominee will be someone who adhere’s to the original intent and the actual words of the U.S. Constitution rather than one who reads special rights into the document that are not written there.  No other nomination should ever be offered by any president.  The loss of Justice Kennedy is a huge setback for liberals who have been able to use the high court to impose their unpopular laws and illegitimate policies upon the nation when they are unable to pass them in Congress. 

There is certainly more good news.  Recent polls indicate that President Trump’s approval rating is at a high point, despite the best efforts of the media and Democrats to distract attention away from the president’s successful accomplishments with North Korean leader Kim Jung Un and the Obama administration’s Department of Justice corruption scandal.  But that’s not all. 

A Monmouth University poll indicates that 77% of the American people believe that the news media reports fake news—that they manufacture stories to push an agenda and distort the facts to suit their political ideology.  Just last week, CNN’s viewership ranked below HGTV, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel and the Food Network.

Scripture says that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.  With the Supreme Court’s return to constitutional sanity and the Democrats’ loss of revenue from forced union contributions, the potential for America’s moral and legal renewal is vast and far-reaching.  There is no telling how many horrible national offenses and injustices may soon be reversed by this determined president guided by Providence. 

Approval of abortion and promotion of homosexual perversity are a repulsive stench in the nostrils of God and those of his people.  These national sins may soon be eradicated.  The last week of June provided a stunning series of victories for President Trump and righteous, freedom-loving Americans.  And it all comes just in time for Independence Day.

Thank God Almighty, we’re free at last!
