The bitter root of hate and violence in the United States is laid bare.

The horrors of mass murder gripped the nation once again on Saturday morning, October 27.  Pittsburg, Pennsylvania was the site of the senseless killing of 11 unarmed worshipers at the Tree of Life synagogue.  According to police, a lone gunman, Robert Bowers, brought an AR-15 and several handguns to the temple during the Shabbat service in order to gun down people who posed no threat to him whatsoever.

Events of unfathomable hate-inspired violence are becoming increasingly more frequent in this unstable and unhinged post-Christian era.  Saturday morning, eight men and three women were killed—the oldest, Rose Mallinger, was 97 years of age.  The youngest, David Rosenthal, was 54.  This is only the most recent murder of defenseless people in a house of worship in recent years.  

Saturday’s shooting follows on the heels of the puzzling story of Cesar Sayoc, who is accused of sending pipe bombs to numerous Democrat politicians and ultra-wealthy campaign donors, George Soros and Tom Steyer.  The window glass of Sayoc’s van was adorned with pro-Trump and anti-Democrat images and stickers, all neatly affixed as if professionally decorated.  None of the bombs detonated.  Curiously, the address labeling and packaging of the bombs did not exhibit the same attention to detail as did Sayoc’s vehicle.

Even before the Jewish victims of the Pittsburg massacre could be laid to rest, an alternative storyline was already being developed by the radical left-wing media networks. 

ABC News could not wait to take a stab at blaming President Trump for the synagogue massacre.  ABC’s Pierre Thomas, labeled the Robert Bowers a “white supremacist,” but offered no evidence to support his malicious claim.  Next, ABC’s Jonathan Karl spent his time scrutinizing the content of President Trump’s comments, the order and timing of them and questioning the president’s decision to continue his ambitious campaign rally schedule. 

The mainstream media, controlled and populated by extreme liberal Democrats, characteristically obfuscates Democrat calls for violence against Republicans members of Congress and Trump supporters.  From Hillary Clinton’s despicable references to her political opponents as irredeemable and deplorable to Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ provocative calls for harassment of Republicans in public places to Virginia Senator Tim Kaine’s recent charge, “we will fight them in the streets,” Democrats are the undeniable heads of hate in America today. 

While Democrat politicians and media reporters pretend to react with horror, sadness and disgust over the violence, their regular fare belies them.  False accusations against Christians, conservatives, working people, police officers and the members of the military services are commonly applied to news stories today.  The veracity of an account is secondary to the political damage a narrative can wreak upon those perceived as their enemies. 

America needs a reset.  Unfortunately, no magic mechanism exists to realign a culture.  One thing, however, is certain.  The answers to America’s manifold problems will not be found in the places that habitually and persistently fail.  Secular solutions to human relations issues are doomed from the start.  Pursuing them has left us with wrecked marriages, broken children, a culture of death and a mountain of debt. 

There are simple and logical reasons for this.  Men and women who have no fear of God will not fear man, and those who have no respect for God will react with contempt toward others with whom they disagree.  Why would anyone fear a God whose existence is in doubt?  When life has no purpose, it has no intrinsic value. 

A secular humanist approach to cultural issues is essentially the application of corrupt minds and depraved hearts to the destructive influences of other corrupt minds and depraved hearts hoping for a positive benefit.  It makes no more logical sense than asking a someone who suffers from tremors of Parkinson’s disease to submit to a brain surgeon whose hands also tremble from Parkinson’s and asking him to trust that there will be a good outcome. 
 
Infirmities of the human heart require the Divine Heart Surgeon known throughout the ages as the God of the Bible.  After all, the most knowledgeable authority of any created thing is always its original Designer.  We would do well to seek Him while we can.  Those of us who already know Him must make Him known to those who do not, by every means at our disposal. 

Many of us still remember the old path where the good way is.  The sooner we return to it, the better for us all.  Otherwise, we should expect an increase in violence advocated by the heads of hate and higher death tolls in cities and towns all across the United States.
