When dreams finally come true ...
From the age of six, I played the violin. Originally my mother thought it would be a great surprise for my father, who was, at the time, a prisoner of war. When we were reunited I continued to study music for a while. I had but one ambition, to play the Sibelius violin concerto. To make the imagery it invoked to come to life.
Then time came to grow up. To put away childish dreams, to get something practical in my head, something that would sustain body and soul, not just soul. I studied architecture and become quite successful. There was no more time for the violin, but the dream persisted. That is why, some thirty years later I wrote The Avatar Syndrome. In a way, I played the Sibelius after all. See for yourself.
