The March Family History

Question 1: What do you know about the March Family name? Where is its origin? Its meaning? Its traditional names, and location, and things alike?

Father: The March Family itself has came from England, which it was a large, trader/mason based family, they had owned a lot of properties, and had lot of workers under them. They had then moved to the new world in 1789, in which they settled in the Caribbean in which they started into spice trading. However with a disagreement of two eirs, the name split, and one became Marsh, the other kept his last name. But the real ethnicity comes from Zaleim De’Tariq, he was a northern African with a Arab/African background who had married into the family, and changed his last name to March. Our names either tend to be biblical related or Irish/English origin. However, not much more is know about it all.

Question 2: What historical events affect the family?

Father: Well on my Mothers’s fathers side of family, which is German, one of his brothers was a SS Officer for the Nazi party in WWII, after the war started and they had invaded France he defected to The United Kingdom from a woman he had fell in love with prior to the war, they were trying to keep in contact, and they did well, but he had left his country, and was labeled a traitor. Today he still lives in the United Kingdom. WWII affected a lot of my family on his fathers side, Many of them were RAF pilots, and one had gotten a honor cross for his deeds. The civil rights movement back in the 1930’s elsewhere, the family participated in it. But September 11th, 2001 was the most recent marker in our families’ histories, because everyone had survived the tragic event.

Question 3: Were their any notorious, eccentric, or mysterious members of the family?

Father: Well as you know, my father in law, you mothers father was a large lieutenant in the Black Panther movement, he was also considered to be a mob-boss in certain parts of England, and Jamaica, he had owned a lot of real-estate, and hotels, and resorts and the alike, many of the Sandals he had either owned his own franchise property, as well as places like the Ramada, and other smaller but elitist hotel chains. My great-uncle on my fathers side, was a Nazi SS Officer, before, and during the war, but he had defected. Great-Grandmother Berman, was a part of the Marcus Garvey movement, Ms.Kelly a great-grandmother was the first person to move to the United States, she had also married the Mayor of Nyack, New York in the 1970’s. Other people who were hero’s had been lost in time.

Question 4: What attributes have come down from your grandparents, and parents?

Father: Well for one, one of the things music, and the arts. My father used to be a trumpeter for the Royal Army, and myself, I was a drummer because I wanted to become a better musician than my father was. My grand father was also a Classical Pianist over at Carnegie hall, My sisters used to be violinists, and the alike, so music was in the blood. It was also big on my wife’s side of family to be heavy into politics, many of her uncles had helped Fidel Castro take Cuba over, her father being a huge advocate, and player in the Black Panther movement in the 1960’s and 1970’s. So politics, and music are big in the family.

Question 5: What is the family Heirlooms?

Father: Well he have both the Iron cross, and the RAF bravery cross in our care, but most of our heirlooms are pictures of rarely seen people, like estranged uncles, and aunts, also land was a big thing. He has a lot of land in the Caribbean.

Question 6: Does the family have any unique family sayings?

Father: Well when I played for Bob Marley in the 70’s, I began saying “Be Easy!” And it had picked up through my whole family, which it means, everything is taken care of. So both sides of the family, mentioned. “Be easy!” and they have spread to many of the other places people. But that’s about it.
