Miracles
We live in a time of incredible miracles but we seem to be blind to their presence in our lives. Each day a miracle presents itself but to our busy world it becomes a lost artifact to our conscious mind. As I write this article there is one breathtaking miracle being played out before our eyes. On another planet there exists a piece of earth known as the Mars Rover Spirit. It is truly a miracle of human ingenuity but its true miracle lies not only in its physical makeup but in the fact that it sits on another alien world sending back pictures through its eyes so that our eyes can witness its wonder.
We are truly witnesses to a miracle – a miracle of enormous proportions but we act as though it is just another day. “Oh, that’s a pretty picture” we might say or “just a pile of rocks what’s so great about that?” What is great and miraculous about this is the fact that our ‘eyes’ are there ‘seeing’ the never before seen beauty of another world. The rover is not the only set of eyes that pear into the distance at Mars but there are millions of eyes seeing what has never been seen before. Now that is a miracle.
Can you see the enormity of this time in history? Can you feel the wonder as you look at what has never been seen before? Can you feel the wonder presented to us by that small part of our world? Yes we are looking at dirt, yes we are seeing just rocks, and yes we can see hills and craters, but all that dirt, each rock, and each crater lie on another planet millions of miles from our world.
Miracles come in all different shapes and sizes. Each can be ignored by our active minds or each can be seen by the awareness we can obtain by actively watching their passage throughout our lives. Turn on your radio and what do you hear? Many hear voices and music but I hear a miracle. Watch the sunrise over the horizon. Many see another sunrise – I see another miracle. Start you car in the morning, plug in an electrical appliance, take a bath, pet your dog or cat. Within each lies a miracle if you awaken to its presence. Each gives us a glimpse into the mind of the Creator. Each is filled with wonder, awe, and inspiration. Each is, that is, if you take the time to look and feel its presence.
Miracles can be defined as wonders, a phenomenon, a marvel, sensations, or a vision. How many miracles do you miss each day? How many have you missed just today? Isn’t it a miracle that you can read this article and make sense out of the jumble of shapes we call letters and words? Isn’t it a miracle each day as you awake from an unknown lake of peace and quiet? Isn’t that lake a miracle too?
Miracles abound in every aspect and corner of our lives. Enjoy each miracle as you begin to see it in your life. Live each miracle with joy for within each miracle is found the warm breath of our Creator and within that breath is the genuine peace that each of us seek in life. Begin to see miracles in your life and you will discover more love than you could ever imagine.
