Martin T. Ingham's novel, "The Guns of Mars," has been selected as an ABNA Quarterfinalist.

Last February, I submitted "The Guns of Mars" to the Amazon Breaktrough Novel Award contest. I am pleased to announce that my work has been selected to be one of the 500 quarter-finalists. That means it beat out 9,500 other submissions!

I attribute this success to God, as I prayed heavily for this to happen, and he gave me the amazing gift of writing to begin with. I will continue to pray that he takes me all the way, and that "The Guns of Mars" wins the contest.

Here is what one Amazon reviewer had to say about my "excerpt" (which is the first 5,000 words):

An absolute gem in a mountain of ordinary rocks!! Chapter One had me a little concerned. Science-fiction is a little-appreciated genre inundated with inept writers. This author was already fighting an uphill-battle. But, then some subtle touches surfaced in this chapter: when I saw the name "Asher" I assumed it was a homage to the Alien series' "Ash"; therefore, I already suspected that Morgan Asher was an extraordinary being. (Rather gratifying when my suspicions were validated.) Still, nothing could have surprised me more than the next chapter. My reluctant, self-aware scanning of the page turned to complete absorption in the material as this section progressed. Written from the perspective of the spouse (not the "hero"), this piece allows the reader to easily align with Morgan. His love for Lorna isn't expressed in flowery sentiments (in fact, Morgan knows her flaws ... like her culinary skills). The reader appreciates the relatively unsentimental approach. Likewise, most readers can relate to the fear of aging (and it's connection to maintaining relationships). And, these "genetic advances" that are enhanced by Mars' gravity (?) are an exciting, playful touch. If forced to criticized some aspect, I would say, A.) the writer might use the word "so" too often, and B.) I believe it is always referred to as "G-Force" (Gravitational Force). This is the only excerpt (out of 32) that I found NOT ONLY publishable, but wildly captivating. I WOULD BUY THIS WORK!
