This is about my family and the first piece of music that I owned by myself!

I started taking piano lessons in middle school. I am the baby of four girls and by the time Mom got to me and Julie, the third child, she said we had to play something that was "here to stay" and would not leave the house like my eldest sisters' clarinet lessons and flute lessons. So, Julie and i decided to play the piano. We really surprised Mom but we hung in there and I played for eight years and Julie played for four years.

Music has ALWAYS been a part of my life. I remember swaying to "Simon & Garfunkel" as a toddler. Mom said even as a baby I would sway to music and I danced as a baby. Mom said the tv was never on during the week. Maybe on Saturday mornings we could watch cartoons. My elder sister, Kris, laughing recalled me doing the "dance thing" to the music as she tried to "change my diapers". I laughed at that one and realized that maybe music is my calling even though I was born deaf in one ear. Music is the essence to life I would say! It has been a hidden passion of mine. No one seems to know about it except the older adults who were around when I did music in High School. No one in Missouri knows about my passion for music. I went to college in Missouri but am from Texas.

The first piece of music that I "OWNED" would have been, "Solofigetto" by the composer, Bach, I believe. I owned many piano books before then but the very first piece that I actually went out and BOUGHT with my OWN MONEY and it was NOT in a book, was this piece. I liked it because it had many triplets in it and it went up and down the scales very fast. I still have a little of it memorized but my memory is fading fast.

I have bought about 75 pieces of piano music over 15-20 years. I OWN them. Some are classical, soft rock, country, christian, and just scales in a book.
I need to take lessons again.

My first piece will always stay with me. I am going back to college to take more lessons, so get tuned up piano; here I come!!!!
