If someone asks you to think outside the box, ask which box.

 If you are like most people, you live in a box-type house, with box-like rooms, and even sleep in a box-like bed.  Looking at the bigger picture, your box-type house may be located on a box-like city block, or if you live in a rural setting, your box-type house may be located on a box-shaped section of land.   If you really look at the things in your life, you may be surprised to see that you are somewhat boxed in. 

Let’s start with an average workday.  You wake up in your box-like bed, step out onto your box-shaped carpet, and walk across your box-like bedroom.  You enter a somewhat smaller box-like room where you can attend to your personal needs, then re-enter your box-shaped bedroom, walk across your box-shaped carpet, and reach into your box-like closet.  After choosing your attire, you locate yourself in front of your box-shaped mirror to apply the finishing touches. 

Now let’s go to work.  You leave your box-type house through the box-shaped door and enter your box-like garage.  There, you get in your box-like car and push the small button on the box-shaped door opener and wait while the box-shaped door moves out of your way.  You back your box-like car out of your box-like garage and again push the small button on the box-shaped remote closing the box-shaped door.  On your drive to work, you pass many box-shaped houses, cars, city blocks, and an assortment of buildings. 

Reaching your destination, you enter the box-type building, ride the box-like elevator, and enter your box-like office.  You pull out your chair, sit behind your box-shaped desk, and stare at your box-shaped computer monitor.  You are thinking about your box lunch when your boss walks up and asks you to think outside the box, so I ask you; which box?
