I received Mathew's book in the mail early this week and unlike many of the books that I read by friends and fellow writers I couldn't put it down.

Starting as a ten year old in the days before WWII, he relates the normal joys of childhood, the simple things of the life of a typical middle class working family in Warsaw, Poland.
Then moving into the horrors of the Nazi invasion and the brutality of war, unlike anything that most of us would ever recognize or imagine.
The love of family, the passion of life and the trials of wartime Europe. Mathew brings all of this to the reader in his book. I am hesitant to tell too much of the story as this should be enjoyed by readers of all ages.
The family devotion, the love of parents of their child the love of the child for his parents and his pet Chihuahua. The tall woman with her “undies” for a surrender flag, the German soldier who showed compassion, the bombing of his home, close calls from bombs and bullets. And much more …
