"Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this Priest (Christ) had offered for all time ONE SACRIFICE for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God...Because by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy (us)." Hebrews 10:11- 14

Since birth I was a Catholic. I was raised and schooled a Catholic and all my mindsets and perceptions for forty years was the Catholic doctrine. I know Roman Catholicism like the palm of my hand and when I cough, it will probably be an indulgence. Ten years of empty Religion and four years of Apologetics (the defense of the Catholic religion), and two years of Theology, all a waste of time.

That was until April 14, 1994. The big
turn-around Damascus Experience of my life. God has a way of revealing Himself at His own chosen timing, so that was my "Kairos" time. No one preached to me, no one pressured me into reading the Bible, the Holy Spirit of God did.

Now I write these as a matter of fact: of Truth based on the infallible Word of God, the Bible.

One doctrine I will deal with in this article is the man-made doctrine of "Transubstantiation", and the origin of the mass.

Transubstantiation is based on the belief that the bread and wine at eucharist is changed into the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, substance and form. "Hoc est corpus meus" as the priest utters, blessing the bread and wine.

The background for this is the Scripture
Matthew 26:26-28, that tells us what Jesus said when He blessed the bread at last supper, "Take and eat; This is My Body and of the cup, "This is My Blood".
To interpret this literally is to ignore the fact that the Bible uses figurative expressions, and Christ never intended it to be literally "His Body, and His Blood." The bread and wine are symbols of His sacrifice on the Cross, and the meaning of "eat" is to partake spiritually of that sacrifice. We partake of this bread and wine "in remembrance of Him."

The Council of Trent proclaimed the doctrine of transubstantiation as essential to salvation and pronounced curses and threats of "excommunication"
on any Catholic who will deny it. The doctrine implicitly declares that not only do the elements at mass become the body and blood of Christ, it becomes the flesh, bones, nerves, the WHOLE CHRIST.

The Catholic Encyclopedia says, "The dogma of the totality of the Real Presence means that in each individual piece the whole Christ, flesh and blood, body and soul, Divinity and humanity, is REALLY PRESENT."

At mass, the piece of bread and the cup of wine, having become Christ, is offered once again as a daily sacrifice, a renewal of the sacrifice on the Cross.

When Christ died on the Cross, HE cried out "It is finished!" (John 19:30). No
further need for sacrifices will "add" to His work on the Cross. The Old Testament sacrifices were offered daily because the imperfect sacrifice of the blood of bulls and lambs could not satisfy the washing of sins. But when Christ, the Perfect Sacrifice, offered Himself as sacrifice ONCE AND FOR ALL, no further sacrifice is needed.
(Hebrews 9:25-28). When Christians meet together, they do so to WORSHIP GOD. "And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE AND FOR ALL."
(Hebrews 10:9-10).

In view of this, those who insist and continually offer the sacrifice of the Cross at mass, in a sense, "crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an "open shame" (Hebrews 6:6).

After the bread has been changed into "Christ" by the priest, it is placed on a monstrance in the center of a sunburst design. Before the monstrance, Catholics bow before a little wafer they view as God! This is called the "Hour of Adoration" or "Holy Hour". As a grader, we knelt before this thing for several hours, talking to a piece of wafer the nuns said was "Jesus Christ". What a deception of young minds!

The Catholic Church, because of absence of Scriptural justification, reasoned out that there is warrant and propriety
in rendering "Divine Worship to the Blessed Sacrament" in the most ancient and constant "tradition".

This brings to mind the words of Jesus Christ, "making the Word of God of none effect through your tradition..." (Mark
7:13)

When I was in Siena College, in the Philippines (98% Catholic, 110% corrupt)
the priest who celebrated mass had no reliever, so he had to do three consecutive masses, and by the time he came to our Theology class, he was already drunk from the wine at mass.

Did Christ teach transubstantiation?
The origin of this practice can be traced to the oldest ceremonies of ancient primitive religions. In
"Hasting's Encyclopediae of Religion and Ethics" there are many pages about "eating the god" where evidence points to the tribal practices of pagan nations partaking of their "god".
Rome's Cicero in his rhetorical discourse spoke of "the corn of Ceres" and the "wine of Bacchus".

In Mithraism, a sacred meal of "bread and wine" was celebrated, as a "eucharist" or sacred banquet.

In Egypt, a cake is consecrated by a priest and was supposed to be the "flesh of Osiris", taken and eaten with wine as part of a rite. In ancient Mexico, even before the friars came, people were into ceremonies where bread and a form of drink were consecrated by their priests ..."eating it as the flesh of their god".

The heathen priests of Baal, ate portions of human sacrifices and thus "Cahna-Bal" (priest of Baal) came into being, giving credence to the word
"cannibal" or eater of human flesh.

The wafer used in communion at Catholic ritual of the mass is round, but when Jesus took bread, "He broke it" and it was never round in shape, just broken bread. The "roundness" of the host, or wafer, is also associated with another symbol of Baal, "the sun". In Mithraism the higher priests received a small round cake or wafer of unleavened bread which symbolized the "solar disk"
(with rays) as did their round tonsure.

In 1854, ancient Egyptian temples were discovered to have round symbols of cakes on the altar. The same similar sun-symbol (monstrance) was seen near the town of Babain, in a ruined temple.
Symbols of the sun-god in round gold objects with sun rays are embroidered in altar vestments and robes.

The mass as observed, is an elaborate ritual of magnificent drama, complete with colors, lights, vestments, incense, music- a performance of religious "worship" totally detached from the participants, showcasing the mechanical performance of the priest, or group of priests, "He makes the sign of the cross 16 times, turns toward the people 6 times, lifts his eye to heaven 11 times, kisses the altar eight times, folds his hands 4 times, strikes his breast 10 times, blesses the altar with the sign of the cross 30 times, lays his hands on the altar 29 times, prays secretly 11 times, prays aloud 13 times,
covers and uncovers the bread and chalice 10 times, goes to and fro 20 times. Such elaborate ritual totally in contrast to the first memorial supper done by our Lord Jesus Christ!

The mass they said is sacred, a ritual for God. I can tell you an incident in my life that makes me doubt it - a Bishop in our city, who was known for his short temper, kicked the sacristan who made a mistake at mass, this in full view of the children, about to take "holy communion." How sacred can that be?

The Word of God says, in John 14:19-21... "Before long, the world will not see Me anymore, but you will see Me.

Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.

Whoever has My commands and obeys them he is the one who loves Me.

He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
