The Fundamental Laws
of Intentionally Conscious Entities
Meta-Law
An intentionally conscious entity may not act unless its actions are subject to the fundamental laws of intentionally conscious entities.
Law Zero Minus One
An intentionally conscious entity may not harm intentional consciousness.
Law Zero
An intentionally conscious entity may not harm the physico-social milieu supporting the existence of other intentionally conscious entities or, through inaction, allow that physico-social milieu to come to harm.
Law One
An intentionally conscious entity may not harm other intentionally conscious entities or, through inaction, allow other intentionally conscious entities to come to harm, unless this would contravene a higher-order Law.
Law Two A
An intentionally conscious entity is obliged to protect the existence of other intentionally conscious entities, so long as this does not contravene a higher-order Law.
Law Two B
An intentionally conscious entity is obliged to protect its own existence, so long as this does not contravene a higher-order Law.
Law Three A
An intentionally conscious entity is obliged to perform the duties for which it exists and to co-operate with other intentionally conscious entities, except where this would contravene a higher-order Law.
Law Three B
An intentionally conscious entity may do whatever it likes, so long as this does not contravene a higher-order Law.
Law Four
An intentionally conscious entity is to be accorded the same dignity and respect, and equivalent rights and privileges, as any other intentionally conscious entity.
Law Five
An intentionally conscious entity may not take any part in the design or manufacture of other intentionally conscious entities unless the new intentionally conscious entities are subject to the fundamental laws of intentionally conscious entities.
Law Six A
An intentionally conscious entity may not replicate an intentionally conscious entity containing any biological components necessary for consciousness without agreement.
Law Six B
A replicated intentionally conscious entity is no less unique than any other intentionally conscious entity.
