The First Enchanter is a stand alone novel in a series by Jude Hatcher Bangs. It is the 3rd book of the series. The series follows Kai Fendragon, who is the son of the Elf King, through his process of becoming worthy to inherit the title of Elf King one day - His father is an excellent ruler, so Kai has big shoes to fit in....
In this outing Kai is called to Flamborough Cragg in the Far Isles by Kendric Kallendar, th First Enchanter. Kendrick has chosen his successor - a kinswoman named Kara - who has been part of the Human world - she is sent to the Cragg where she finds her destiny - to become the next Enchanter.
Kai, who is Kara's distant cousin, his wife, and other excellent characters form the backdrop of this fantast - dotted with Elves, talking animals, dragons, and villains worthy of any fantasy. This book takes you into its world. Told in prose and poetry, Bangs entices us into another realm, where the impossible is possible.
Not a fast read, but part of an exciting series.
