Indeed, From The Shadows will keep you looking over your shoulder every few minutes, or cause you to jump when the wood in your house creaks, or running at the sound of the wind.

Shadows' foreward and first story is written by one of the great masters of horror - Nicholas Grabowsky - he warns the reader they may not be able to read without lights full on...and he isn't kidding! His short story, The Freeway Reaper, also makes you so scared you wonder how can you read the other twelve to come! Indeed, I started reading this book at bedtime, which was a WRONG thing to do - I learned not to read this book before sleep! Definitely not fairy tales!

But oh, the diversity of styles - the shades of horror - you see, what is scary to me, may not be scary to you, but in this book, there are many, many shades of horror for every horror fan.

My favorites? Aside from Grabowsky's The Freeway Reaper, Norm Applegate's Jumpers also made me stand still - he is the author of the 'Into The' series - I have reviewed them on this site - Into the Basement and Into the Spell - the man can write! Others noteworthy are Fran Orenstein's Destiny - she wrote The Ghost Under Third Base (also reviewed on AD), and April Campbell's A Dark Secret -

This book is full of vampires, demons, heroes, people like you and me, who may or may not be REALLY like you and me...

From The Shadows is a rare look at terror. Of course, these stories are just figments of the imaginations of the authors...aren't they?

You'll be following Grabowsky's advise in the foreward and turn the light to the brightest it can be...A really good scary read.
