Michael Draven is a phlebotomist. His father and brothers are cops. He feels the odd man out sometimes. He suddenly is out of a job, but one of his close buddies, Joseph offers him a job. Joseph it seems is a ghost hunter!
Gazzilionaire Jonathan Stark has hired Joseph and asked him to form a team to scout out the Dew House - where a horrific murder of a family happened - the son killed his parents and sibling. Stark thinks the ghost of Jack the Ripper is there.
Louis asks D (that's Michael's nickname) to get the rest of their gang of close friends since childhood to work this assignment and the pay is incredible!
But something is happening - someone is sending D letters and refer to the White Chapel murders and that D needs to join in the killings. Seems that the victims of Jack the Ripper have returned in modern times and Jack's spirit, with help of a human, is set to kill them all over again!
D seems to drift off to a dialog with a Victorian cop and can see the victims and with that knowledge he is determined to stop the modern day killings.
Especially since Stark's niece is theoretically the last of Jack's victims!
This is a ripping good story (ok, I HAD to say it) with ghosts and heroes and romance and action!
Mr. Blair's story is fluid and well paced. A few times at the end of the book was hard to see that there was a space of time from the last scene, but aside from that it is an excellent read, and Mr. Blair places room for D and company's next adventures!
I look forward to reading the next one...did he say vampires???
