Last night we went to dinner-
It was my brother and sister-in-law's 23rd wedding anniversary and we were invited to go with them to a restaurant near where my brother was having a meeting. (My sister-in-law's Mom was also there) - My Mom always get them for any occasion a cookie/cake - we brought it in the restaurant - something we do not usually do.
Our waitress was so sweet and she saw the box and said she used to get one every birthday - at the end, she brought plates and a big knife to cut the cookie - we had an extra plate and we said to give the waitress a piece of cookie - we had it waiting for her - her reaction was strange, but gracious, and she took the plate, and left.
She didn't come back.
My sister-in-law needed an order for my nephew who couldn't come because of school and we asked about her - the manager came and explained -
the waitress' grandmother passed 2 days before, and it was her grandmother who always made the cookie/cake and when this sweet waitress got a piece of our cookie/cake she was overwhelmed and couldn't come out -
I know that was a sign that her grandmother was working through us to tell her granddaughter one more time she was ok and she loved her enough to give her granddaughter a last cookie/cake for her birthday.
Really wonderful to be part of that.
