I’m just a kid, but I know what’s going on around me. I watch with contempt as adults treat me with disrespect, as if I don’t matter; they don’t think I can see through their arrogant manner. They misinterpret my lack of ability to verbally express myself; they don’t realize that my mind works fast and although I know what I want to say, I have not yet mastered the spoken language. They cannot comprehend that I can think very fast and that nothing gets past me. I see the games they play and I understand everything they say as well as what is not being said: body language and facial expressions; the look in one’s eyes don’t get past me either. I’m still less than seven years of age; I’m not as tied to this plane as someone older and I can feel things that adults cannot see or feel. By the time a human being gets to adulthood they are so materialistic and tied to social “norms” that they cannot see the trees for the forest. Most adults ignore their instincts and totally disregard gut feelings, which is always a mistake and the primary reason why they get into so much trouble.
Adults forget from where they came. They think that this is it; that this life is all important and that the things that they can accumulate are important. By the time one reaches adulthood, they lose sight of the fact that this life is simply a stopover; it is a side trip that the spirit makes so as to be able to experience something different and to feel things on a physical plane.
A good point made about how we don't use kids as a resource because they will be the ones facing the future for us.
I recall the timeline when brother was hit by a truck and everyone that came to the accident scene would listen to me at seven years old. Later, I wasn't allowed to go to court and explain what I saw. The adult guy who hit my brother with his truck was at real fault, but they blamed it on my brother so he could get off a serious charge.
Thought provoking, thoughtful article
