Looking back on what I wrote in my youth is almost embarrasing! It's good to know that I have developed a bit more as a person. I suppose some of it was what I would focus on, and sometimes I was just silly. I'm actually still quite silly.
It has been 8 years.
Anyhow. looking back at one one wrote in their youth is interesting. If you have moments of, "Ok that was actually a bit brilliant" then trust me, it was. Keep writing, see what you can do now. Maybe all these experiences will fuel your stories.
Unfortunately, I don't seem to have much that I wrote in my younger days. I do remember that I didn't like my first short story--a canoe adventure--written in high school. I do recall two writing assignments quite well, although I don't have them. An essay on the origin of life in the eighth grade and a allegory comparing a library to an automobile engine during a senior year in college expository writing course. And then there is my dissertation. When I look back on my writing like my dissertation, full of errors, I'm amazed at my thinking at that time.
