Unique Ways To Draw The Community

Into Your Sunday School /Children’s Church

Scripture: Acts 8:5-12

5   Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there.

6   When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to 

      what he said.

7   For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were

     healed.

8   So there was great joy in that city.

9   Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the

     people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,

10   and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly

      called the Great Power of God.”

11   They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery.

12   But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the 

       name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

        I.            In order to  Draw the community into your Sunday School you must first:

1.  Established a visitation program

2.  Establish a ministry of prayer (hours of power)- Much Prayer , Much Power

      II.            Analyze and understand what level your ministry is at!  If you are not going out 1 time a week  

don’t plan for going our 3 x’s a week.

    III.            Deal with any negativity in the church regarding growth.  People will have all kinds of excuses

why they don’t want to go out.   ie.  Messed up carpet, bad influence on our youth.

    IV.            Get to know who lives in your community and the community needs.  ie – single family, white

collar, blue collar workers.

     V.       You can’t reach someone you don’t know. Get to know people who live in your community.

   V1.      In the average church community.

                                1.  70% of the people who attended were from within a two mile radius.

                                2.  Four other preachers are already doing ministry in our church community area.

                                3.  Seven families from one block were already a part of our church for many years.

VII.         Lets examine and review the ministry of Jesus;  It can be divided into three sections.

                                1.  33 % of His time was spent with God the Father

                                2.  33 % of His time was spent with the disciples

                                3.  33 % of His time was spent in the market place

                                4.  Most of Jesus healing and miracles took place there.

VIII.        “Every Church is not going Everywhere”

  IX.         Get involved in the secular arena (In the past 20 years) our members and I were in;

                                1.  Local school board members

                                2.  Leader with Community policing

                                3.  President of my block club

                                4.  I reached many for Christ just by being involved

  X.          Keep your Community informed on what is going on in your church

                                1.  Distribute literature for big Sunday School/Children Church / and Church events

                                2.  Distribute weekly sermons -  (if you don’t have paper – ask local business to

                                  contribute to printing .

XI.           Don’t be satisfied or content with where your Sunday School ministry is.

XII.         Get and read books that inspire you to grow.

XIII.        Social Media campaigns – Bulk mail

DO THE PACIFICS

Plan your contest at least 6 weeks in advance but only hold contest for 3 to 4 weeks maximum.

Prepare your staff and students for the contest.  i.e. expectations and promotional materials they will need from you and what they will need to sacrifice from themselves.

Promote in church to the congregation in service.  Have the children come into the sanctuary so they can see the adults giving for the money jars that are visibly set on the alter each week.

Remember to get outside sponsors to help with the prizes through donations.

g.       Girls / Boys overnight sleep over

l.         Trip for two to resort
