This is my initial entry to a series of articles called “Sporadic Moments Of …”.  My series will include sporadic moments of inspiration, redemption, dumb luck, dumb thoughts, etc.  Below is a “Sporadic Moment of Inspiration”.  Not my first but the first one to be written down.

“With great responsibility comes great power”.

This is my flip on Uncle Ben’s quote in Spiderman the movie.  (Was it in the comic book too?)

“Remember, with great power, comes great responsibility.”

I have been pondering this thought with the upcoming presidential election as well as issues in the news in recent years on large non-profit organizations and financial institutions.

My thought is I have allowed too much responsibility to go to the few in positions of governing power.  When I give up my responsibility to care for others, to care for our world, I give up great power.  That great power equates to freedom.  The more responsibilities I ignore, the more of my freedoms I allow to slip away.

“With great responsibility comes great power”. 

My question now is, do I hold fast to the great responsibility of tending to the needs of humanity as best I can or do I impart that power elsewhere?
