A variety of author associations exist out there for the very purpose of bringing like-minded people together. Subscribing to an association newsletter or signing up for a seminar will open up a whole galaxy of information and possibilities. You may even get a discount on the price of admission to an industry event if you are a member of an author's association.

Search the world wide web for groups in your area. Being a part of an association or network puts you in the know regarding upcoming contests or may create marketing venues you hadn't thought of before.
