Have those who favor Trump's economic plan over Hillary's actually read it? Here it is.
From the Associated Press: "Economists Doubt Trump's Economic Plan": "...he would cut the number of regulations imposed by the federal government, including some that are designed to combat climate change and protect the food Americans eat. he said that 'excessive regulation' costs Americans nearly two trillion a year. Among those he plans to target: Environmental Protection Agency rules for coal-fired plants and ozone standards . . . he would also target the Food and Drug Administration rules that govern 'food production' hygiene, food packaging and food temperatures. {He said that he would} lift restrictions on energy production, including offshore drilling, and scrap trade deals like the North American Free Trade Agreement and the Trans-Pacific Partnership. . . .Critics have said that his economic proposals would add as much as ten trillion to the nations's debt over a decade." Deregulation caused the oil leak that cost BP over 20 billion dollars. It caused the mortgage bubble, which conservatives would have you believe was Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae's fault. Big banks have paid billions in reparations for selling worthless stock, the Deutsch Bank being the latest. They were mortgage stocks. Coal is the horse and buggy of energy sources. Power plants will switch on their own. Natural gas is cheaper, and we've got lots of it. The hole in the ozone layer has been getting smaller since standards were passed. Trump must like ultra violet rays. It sure looks like it. His food stipulations sound like something out of Upton Sinclair's THE JUNGLE. His own party favors the TPP. A recent poll claims voters favor Trump's economic plan over Hillary's. Have they read it?
My brother, a former industrial consultant, seems to like Trump. He says that economists do nothing for the economy. They only come up with ridiculous schemes and theories that can't be implemented or do harm. He favors a free economy--the very economy that is making the rich, richer, creating megacorporations swallowing all innovation and monopolizing it, destroying the natural world at an astounding rate, and equating good governing with monetary success.
Unfortunately, in this country, there seems to be many unthinking people, even with college degrees like my brother, who adamantly want to hold onto old ideas and especially, dangerous and deadly practices, in the name of their personal freedom. All the while not knowing that their personal freedom is being taken away by the very corporations and rich people they admire and worship.
