Why would you shut down housing for unaccompanied children at the border when they have no place else to go?
Gregg Abbott is a moron. He's shutting down temporary housing for the children at the border, claiming they're crowded with inhumane conditions. What's the next question? What does he want them to do? It's a political move. He wants them to return to Cental America where they are being harassed by drug gangs. Does he have an alternative place for them to go while they are being processed? President Biden wants the military to open up unused military barracks to take some of them. Abbott is nothing but a Trump stooge, trying to get even for media criticism about his Stephen Miller inspired plan to scare refugees enough to prevent them from making the trip, dumping out water left for them by compassionate good Samaritans and taking children away from their mothers and sent to who knows where. They still haven't reunited most of them. You'd think a man confined to a wheel chair would be more compassionate. I'll bet he thinks he's religious, too. If so, read your Bible, Governor. "What you do to the least of your brothers, so you do unto me".
It's been sometime since I visited the articles. Quite a bit has changed. Abbott hasn't.

As governor he has not been responsive to the needs of the disabled and is a Republican lackey licking the money from sweet crude state revenue. About the change and the government is scrambling, fossil fuel funds.
Republicans have used rumors about the border to scare much of the population of the United States. The Obama administration, and now the Biden administration, are turning away millions at the border and only allowing those with bona fide refugee status to stay.
A 2000 bed facility has been opened in Houston for the children and an even larger facility is opening in Dallas. Some of the children are sent to other parts of the country. And the tearful boy whose mother was abducted is reported to be reunited with his uncle, as many of the children are, while his mother was freed by buyer kidnappers because she was probably too hot to trade or whatever.
Abbott and the Republicans who run the state are passing all kinds of laws to ensure their existence a little longer. Pushing through a bill right now to allow people to buy guns without registration so that they can protect themselves whenever a disgruntled employee returns to get justice with an automatic rifle. The shootouts will become more common and start to rival fiction or even video games. Won't that be nice and sweet?
