Rodney Dagerfield and Joe Pesci star
in this hilarious family movie.
A Hilarious Rodney Dangerfield film with a great plot, situations, classic lines, and Joe Pesci! Rodney plays Monty Capulletti, a "family man" and a professional baby photographer. His mother-in-law, who doesn't approve of him, dies in a plane crash. Her will declares she has left Monty $10 million dollars! Its in the bag, right? The catch: Monty must curb all vices for one year, which include overeating, smoking, drinking, gambling and debauchery. If he cannot reform, the cash goes to Clive Barlow (Jeffrey Jones), who tries to trip Monty along the way, on his "easy" quest. Monty is loyal and loves his family, and has a daughter's wedding to pay for, so he gives this a shot. How he handles this with the loving help of his family and friends is hilarious. The subplots involve some of the funniest scenes with Joe Pesci, who plays his friend Nicky Cerrone. (look for the scenes with Nicky driving the truck carrying the wedding cake; and the scenes inside the department store). In the meantime, Clive (Jeffrey Jones) an associate of Monty's mother-in-law, is trying everything to tempt Monty away from gaining that inheritance. In addition, you have his daughter,Allison (Jennifer Jason Leigh)and her upcoming marriage to Julio (Taylor Negron), whose famous line is "Can I call you Dad?". Also, there is a hilarious segment where Monty develops a new fashion look called the "Regular Guy Look" based on bowling shirts and baggy polyester pants. I honestly say that when I watch "The Sopranos" I think of this scene, because the clothing design is similar,to what Christopher and Tony Soprano sometimes, as their "leisure" clothes. Overall,"Easy Money" is a very entertaining film with well acted, funny characters, great stroyline and a title song written and performed by Billy Joel. The best thing about this movie are the one-liners, which you will be repeating over and over again. My favorite,is when Monty is talking to his friends, about his MIL:"My Mother-In-Law...All those years I wouldn't kiss her on the face, and now I'm kissing her A-s!" . I highly recommend watching this and I dare you to watch it only ONCE! - Donna Maris -
