Meet London's PI Detective Cormoran Strike, in this acclaimed first crime novel by J.K. Rowling, writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith
Cormoran Strike’s final feud with his insane fiancée leaves him camping in his office, wondering how his last two clients will keep him afloat and pay for his unexpected secretary, Robin. A childhood acquaintance asks him to investigate his supermodel sister’s apparent suicide, Strike enjoys this distraction from his problems that is also attached to income. Lula Landra, is a widely celebrated Supermodel, who at the pinnacle of her success, falls to death from the balcony of her expensive apartment. Was it suicide or murder, as her brother believes? With assistance from secretary Robin, Strike ably dismantles witness statements and faces crumbling personal situations, with masterful resolve, instead of self pity, all the while accompanied by Robin and her outright enthusiasm for detective work. Reminiscent of a modern day, colorful, Nick & Nora, Strike is up to his eyeballs in detective work, keeping an open eye on collecting a paycheck. This is a hugely entertaining and suspenseful debut novel, introducing a marvelously well written detective team. I found this to be a fun Summer read, whose lead characters, will have every reader eagerly waiting their future adventures! I felt the story more embellished, combining the British narrated audio with standard reading.
