This allows a busy individual to experience only what the character they are following actually does - as we all do in real life without knowing what others are undergoing in the same time frame elsewhere on our planet - thereby in some cases significantly reducing one's reading time. Simply follow the story lines for:
[1] Gallion/Thaymiun at Chapter: 1, 15, 18, 22, 25, 28, 31, 33, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62 and 64. That's 23 chapters, 308 pages, 154,905 words.
[2] Drake at Chs: 4, 8, 11, 13, 17, 23, 26, 30, 35, 38, 41, 45, 49 and 59 for a total of 14 chapters, 135 pages, 66,761 words.
[3] Tanis/Safren appear first in PROLOGUS and then Chapters 3, 7, 16, 19, 21, 24, 27, 29, 32, 34 and 37 [or 12 chapters, 142 pages and 67,970 words.]
[4] To follow the Hetons only read chapters 19, 21, 24, 27, 29 and 47. Total: 6 chapters, 82 pages, 40,395 words.
[5] Joyen [who eventually meets Drake and a being who calls himself 'The Redeemer'] can be joined following Chapters 2, 5, 9 and 12 at Chapters 26, 30, 35, 39, 41, 45, 49, 53 and 57 or 13 Chapters, 140 pages, 60,597 words.
[6] The governing body known as The Doron Pendule appears in Chapters 1, 6, 10, 14, 51, 61 and 63 which comes to 7 Chapters, 86 pages, 43,950 words.
[7] To follow their appointee, Zir, after he leaves for Heton continue on with 43 and 55 if you only have time to first read the shortest story line of 6 chapters, 68 pages, 32,357 words.
[8] On the other hand, if you would prefer to find yourself moving from one storyline to another via one main character then you'll love to see what the Olrisan maiden, Shola, witnesses in Chapters 8, 11, 13, 20, 34, 37, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62 and 64 which will leave you with 19 chapters, 231 pages, 114,745 words.
I know it's a different way of reading a book but, then again, I did it with the reader's available time in mind.
