Reason being is because it is roughly the same size as our farthest "planet", Pluto, so - come on, Congress - support Bush's Space Exploration program!

According to www.space.com, Sedna refers to "the goddess of the sea for arctic dwellers". Unlike Pluto - which resides in the Kuiper Belt with 100,000 or so celestial objects - Sedna is part of the theorized Oort Cloud far beyond it. It looks to be red in color, may have an accompanying satellite, is some about 1,100 miles wide and approximately eight billion miles away from our sun, Sol. Sedna - and similar icy balls such as 2004DW and Quaoar [which is about half the size of Pluto] - have only been discovered recently, in case you did not know.
Don't forget [Part One]: The New Horizons Mission - which was delayed by Congress during the Clinton Administration - will leave Earth in 2006 and arrive at Pluto in 2015. Even Hubble has only been able to see what has been called the most distant "planet" in our solar system as a fuzzy white ball thus far.
Don't forget [Part Two]: That, though Senator and trailblazing astronaut John Glenn has spoken out against Bush's ideas for space exploration, former astronaut Neil Armstrong supports it.
