Celebrating the life of the world's biggest star and contemplations on life and death, in general.
Whenever someone close to me dies, I wonder how the world can continue to spin. And, miraculously, it does. Every time.
Our lives on this plane are but a tiny pint-point, a flicker, a dream, in the lives of our souls. Dying is as natural as life itself, but if it is so natural, then why do the living continue to have such a hard time with the dead? While there are a few animal species that truly mourn their dead, I marvel at the way a bear, or a hamster, can nurse its young and set it free, never to be seen again...with no regrets, no remorse, no feeling that something is wrong. I wonder if, perhaps, we are too connected to this little life.
With that said, our souls are on a journey that has nothing - absolutely NOTHING - to do with us, nor the things we love and find important in this realm. When The Creative Forces call our souls to the next adventure, it is simply time to leave. I am learning to accept death, I think. Having been shielded from it for so long, I have always taken it particularly hard. As a child, my reaction to the death of a goldfish or gerbil had my father waiting for me to crack when my mother died years later. But I survived, somewhat. And, after sixteen years, I can finally look at a picture of her...though I have not yet mustered the nerve to visit the gravesite. I am working on it.
Anyway, my point is this: Regardless to what his loved ones and fans think or feel, it was simply Michael's time to go. And, after giving it much consideration, grief aside, I realize this couldn't have been a more perfect exit for The King. On the verge of his big comeback, it seems as though his dreams and plans were thwarted. But, Michael has just staged THE BIGGEST COMEBACK EVER!!! We simply have to know, and trust, that everything is exactly as it should be.
He gave us so much - talent, passion, style, drama, controversy, questions, and fodder for jokes (although, I have a strange feeling the jokes will cease) - let us simply celebrate his legacy and his music, and take this moment to re-process the notion of death and rejoice in the lives of all of those we've lost knowing that, first of all, we know nothing, and EVERYTHING IS EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE.
But still I wonder how the world (specifically the world of entertainment) will continue to spin without him....
FABULOUS EXIT MICHAEL - YOU'VE CAPTURED US AGAIN! ;-)
