Do you know what the original name for Matchbook Cars was? Did you play with them as a child? Do your children play with them? If you have answered yes or no to any of these questions, read on.
Matchbox cars and trucks were originally called Pocket-Sized Wheels. The very first car series was created by Jack Odell in 1952. Jack Odell wanted to give a gift to his daughter and he created a small brass prototype of a Road Roller. He then placed it into a match-size container and presto the Match-Box cars were born. His daughter loved the gift so much she took it to school.
I know when my son was growing up he would play with his Matchbox cars and trucks for hours on end. I never had to worry about the wheels coming off or poisoning from chipping paint. These small cars and truck's can be stored in a small purse or bag and carried with you for your children's entertainment.
These cars and trucks were made to take the torture of small hands dropping and stamping on them. The Matchbox cars and trucks are still selling off the shelves after forty years on the market. There price is reasonable and they bring love and enjoyment for hours of entertainment. It gives mom a time out with her children. She can watch the amazing creativity her children can develop while playing with their siblings or friends.
These cars are collector’s items and I wish I still had some of the cars my son used to play so hearty with. I can still hear him make the noises of driving the car's and crashing them one against the other.
When you log onto the website you see all the fantastic new and amazing cars and trucks on display. They make my mouth water for one of these Matchbox size cars for real. There is also a Matchbox Road Museum in Newfield, New Jersey.
