Is it hard for you to turn the steering wheel of your car? Do you have arthritis or tendonitis? Do you actually need assistance sometimes to make a U turn? Did you know there is help for you? Did you know you can change your steering mechanism? If you have answered yes or no to any of the above questions, read on.
Driving does not need to be painful. Trying to make a turn or backing out of a parking place does not have to be painful. There are mechanics who specialize in, “Sensitized Steering."
When you are in the market for a new car ask your sales person about their handicapped department. If they are unfamiliar with it speak to their manger. Somebody in the car dealership has to know about the handicapped department.
When you buy a new car you are entitled to have your car steering changed free or for a very small co pay. The car dealership will take care of all the details. It should set up the appointment for removing your old steering mechanism and replacing it with, “Sensitized Steering.”
If you have been holding onto an old car with power steering because you have tried the new cars and could not turn the steering wheel – there is hope.
Not all models of cars can be changed to, "Sensitized Steering", make sure before you purchase your car, yours can be changed.
If you have an older car and need to have the steering changed, you can do this on your own. The only problem is you will have to pay for this service yourself. When you are in pain and want to drive pain free what do you have to lose?
