Did you ever read your child a story and they were bored? Did you ever listen to a speaker and were put to sleep? Can you tell a person's mood as soon as they open their mouth? If the answer is yes, read on.

Your voice tells your story. You have heard of body language well I am going to talk about voice language.

I was recently at a book signing. There were three authors reading different pages from their published books. Two of the authors read from their books but I didn’t hear passion in their voices. I know the books were good books but from their reading it was dull and unexciting.

The third author when she read from her book the passion flowed. You could feel her excitement. This was her book and her creation. Her voice and body language combined screamed out at the audience who were listening intently to her every word.

When we read to our children they love when we change our voices. We can be loud or soft - they will have to strain to hear. Make it funny so they laugh. With our voice doing the work we can hook the children right into the story. They will want another and another read to them. Presto, we have future readers and book lovers.

Let the children read the book or make up a similar story and let them do the voices. This is a great bonding period and this time spent together is something you and your child will always remember.

Our voice can also portray grief, boredom, excitement, laughter and etc. Our voice is our personality in our business, social and personal life. Have you ever listened to a speaker and could not wait until the end. On the other hand, you could listen to a speaker and never want the speech to finish. That is passion for their thoughts conveyed it to you, via their voice and body language.
