If your husband kisses you goodbye and steps onto an airplane to take him thousands of miles away to a country you have barely heard and what is worse know less about, loneliness and panic will set in fast.
When the wife is left at home to cope with all the everyday crises sometimes a feeling of hopelessness is overwhelming. Dealing with a little bit of money to stretch a full month until the next allotment check comes in, especially; if there are kids to feed can cause you to scream in silent agony. Add loneliness and getting through each day worried about your spouse off on the other side of the world not knowing if he is alive or dead can really put a perfectly normal person over the edge.
Now is the time for all the Military wives to help each other. Setting up babysitting trades where it does not cost anything for you to take a couple of hours for yourself a week. Even being able to take a long soak in the tub can not be accomplished without having another adult available for the safety of the kids.
This is a time for your personal growth. You can read that book you never had time for. You can start taking classes on line. There are many competent computer schools on line. Take out that camera you used last when your baby was born. Bundle up the kids, take along a picnic and start taking pictures. Now with digital cameras, picture taking is possible. Maybe you can even start selling your pictures and making money. What is the best part, you never know until you try something new. This can be out of boredom, desperation or loneliness.
When you husband returns you will not be the same people. You will have taken your relationship to a new level. Enjoy it. It will be like being on a honeymoon but all honeymoons must end.
