By this time Lucy had 70 children depending upon her for food, clothing, education and shelter. She had very little money and sometimes the kids went without food. Supporters gave Lucky money to build a shelter. She kept saying, “God will provide.”
Aluminum sheds one for the girls and one for the boys were built by supporters. They even managed to get bunk beds for all the kids. While all the construction was going on the kids were sleeping on plastic on the ground with cardboard for walls.
Now Lucy has 300 children living at the Hope Community Center. When talking to these kids they love Lucy so much. She gave them everything, and they now have hopes and dreams to finish school and help other children who were in the same boat they were in without a roof over their heads, food in their stomach, without schooling, and without learning about God.
Lucy says, “ Everything comes from God. Thank him. He will make your lives beneficial and there isn’t anything you can’t do if you work hard.”
The first little boy that Lucy rescued is now 26 and has spent 3 years in college. He has one more year before he graduates. He will be a pastor. He will give back in so many ways to Lucy and her children plus other homeless kids.
The next big fund raising campaign is to get Cribs, diapers and formula for the 20+ babies which are now living at the Hope Community Center. The babies are now sleeping 4 to a crib.
