I really believe my life started after 50. Yes I was a wife and mother. Worked up until I retired. I really believe my life started after fifty. Now I could spend my time and money on me. What a concept! It was so rare before to even consider this.
I started writing by accident and created my Christy and Brad Adventure Series which now is 4 books and growing. Plus all my other books over the years which now consists of 15 books and still growing.
But even though I became a published author it was not enough I needed to learn something new. I started taking classes through an Adult School Program. I really enjoyed the classes and I expanded as a person. While I was taking a class in Microsoft word, Excel and Power Point I asked the teacher how to apply to the school to teach a new class. She said, “Go ask Vicky she is here tonight.” I did just that.
I explained the class I wanted to teach was about writers and authors who wanted to take their writing to a new level and become a published author and get paid with E-books.
She said, “Write up and outline with your topic how many hours and days it will take and email it to her.”
I did that and forgot about it. About 3 months went by and I received a call from Vicky. She said, “We decided to pick up your class as a trial and you will get paid ___. “
I was so happy. I never taught a class before and I was suddenly frightened. I wasn’t worried about speaking in front of the class because I’ve been in Toastmasters for years but I was afraid of my curriculum and everything else in general.
But was this enough for me?
I found out If you are a teacher through Grossmont Adult Schools any class you take is ½ price. So I started taking art classes. All kinds of art classes. Something I have never done but always wanted to do. But did I stop at that of course not. I took a class in beginners keyboarding and now I can play about 8 songs on the keyboard and read a little music. Amazing. I just added another class a dancing class. Line dancing. Besides that I swim in my pool where I live and I do volunteer work at a Food Give Away.
I keep busy. My brain and my body will not turn to jello and I am having the time of my life and yes life after 50 is the best.
